- CDPR: For the next installment in The Witcher series of video games we're moving from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5. However, REDengine, the technology which powers Cyberpunk 2077, is still being used for the development of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.

After all this time, the Lifepath Opening with Jackie Remains the Game’s Weak Point Posted: 22 Mar 2022 04:03 AM PDT I think a lot of criticism of this game could come from it having a weaker opening than it should. The lifepath missions are the worst possible first impressions to give of this game. They're short, they feel rushed, and they provide no interesting choices. If CDPR couldn't make these more extensive and ethically charged like BioWare did with Dragon Age: Origins, they shouldn't have bothered. Then we get what feels like rushed storytelling with Jackie and the six-months unplayable montage. CDPR has since said that this was reduced to a cutscene because the important plot elements happen with the heist, but that's wrong. The relationship with Jackie informs the player caring about his fate and setting up an emotional connection to the rest of the game's story. Playing through initial missions with him while seeing him in his mother's house would have added much more gravitas to the prologue. The rest of the game is, in my opinion, a masterpiece in storytelling, and I could write an essay about it. It's just a shame then that the game starts in the weakest way possible and almost dares the player to give up on it. [link] [comments]
God, I love this game! A small appeciation post Posted: 22 Mar 2022 12:15 AM PDT I don't know if posts like these are appreciated, but I needed somewhere to express my feelings about this game. If you don't mind. BackInTheDay™ when the game was announced, I'll admit I wasn't too thrilled about it. I don't like FPS games too much so I honestly didn't care too much and while I enjoyed the heck out of the Witcher 3, I never really understood why people were so hyped about Cyberpunk 2077 so much. Then, short before release back in Dec, 2020, I decided like, ah, c'mon man, I'll support these guys and lemme just pre-order CB2077, fans won't be wrong and it'll be a great game, just give it a try. So yeah, what came next, many of us know - the reviews came in, some of them were smashing, CDPR got review bombed, there was lots of negativity and even hatred and threats (shows well how really low sinking our society is, but that's another topic). When my copy for PS4 arrived, I was suspicious, installed it, played the first couple of minutes, but when I got to a point where I couldn't even pick up items I was pissed, I uninstalled it and never came back. I did follow their dev blogs and social media and I remember Marcin's sorry video, which made me peaceable again and I started to realize how much power marketing teams have their companies and that it likely wasn't the devs' fault. When last month the next generation console update released, I was like, oh heck, just lemme try again - and boy, how the turn tables! As a father of two, I do not have too much time for gaming, like maybe one or two hours a day, but I've spent every single one of them in this game for a couple of weeks now. I haven't progressed too far yet because I get lost even only just wandering through the streets of Night City, the settings, the lights - I mean I appreciate every lens flare effect at every lamppost, the sounds, listening to conversations NPCs have. It's marvellous. I sometimes get caught just admiring stuff. I get into fights just for the music (lol) and great sound design. I think about V and Silverhand all day, at work, when cooking I listen to the soundtrack (lol), when taking my kids to bed while I wait for them to fall asleep I'm trying to get deals on merch on my phone - I feel like a teenager and boy, I'm turning 40 soon. This game gives me childhood vibes and makes me wanna call in sick just to play it all day. It's a freaking masterpiece. So yeah, it's been hell of a roller coaster ride for the game, also for me personally, from not giving a damn to okay let's try, to disappointment and disregard, back to full admiration and being caught in what seems to be the best game of the decade to me personally. I hope we will see many more additions to it, more streets to explore, also a VR mode would be amazing (boy, just imagine...). Anyway, I can't wait to see what other ideas they come up with it and the future updates. So if by any chance a dev reads this: THANK YOU. <3 [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Mar 2022 05:25 AM PDT First time posting in here. So I loaded up Cyberpunk this morning (having played it before). I decided I'm just gonna start a new game. Today i've been playing for the better part of an hour and have just received a 25GB update which I'm currently installing. I definitely already had the next Gen version already so this couldn't possibly be the 1.5 update ? Just a little confused [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Mar 2022 02:53 AM PDT if there's a sequel what would you prefer? 2078 - continuation of the story with the same characters over 6 months to finish V's story 2088 - Near future after the fall of the Arasaka and the conglomeration of other corpo into a single company 3077 - new city on mars, full body conversion is common and cheap but the corpos have secretly modified the technology so people are more controllable. Cyberpunk 777 - Time Travel and Vikings [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Mar 2022 05:10 AM PDT Do you guys think it will be one and done thing, or it will have at least two expansions like The Witcher 3? [link] [comments]
