Warning! Don’t buy prints of artwork you see posted here

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 07:36 AM PST

More often then not the artwork has been stolen, and is being used to make a quick buck by a talentless scammer. The links come in two forms, either it'll be a direct link to buy a print from a dodgy website, or someone will steal original artwork and post a link within the comments of the artwork. They want you to think the money goes to the artist, but it never does.

Best case scenario you receive a shitty print of someone's work; worst case scenario you receive nothing and have your information stolen. If you like someone's original artwork your best option is to message them directly and work something out with the artist. However in this instance make sure you use PayPal's 'Goods and services' option so you're covered against bad actors.

The original artwork that gets posted here is some of my favourite content. Some of them are legitimately breathtaking. If people keep having their artwork stolen though they're going to be less inclined to post here. Don't let some talentless scammer rob you of your money, or worse, steal your identity. Please just report the post or comment so we can remove it and ban the offending account.

Tried to recreate that iconic trailer shot. I don't believe theres an exact spot in game where it was taken but I found one pretty close...

A Hidden Detail About Spider Murphy, the Netrunner on Johnny's 2023 raid

    Posted: 26 Nov 2021 01:22 PM PST

    Hey Chooms,

I've been looking over more Cyberpunk lore and cross-referencing, making notes and such for a project I've been working on, and in the process uncovered a detail I've yet to see mentioned anywhere at all (and I've searched around). I haven't even seen these images posted anywhere, and if they are, they aren't posted in relation to what I've seen here.

Anyhow, my interest was first piqued when reading through Cyberpunk RED. During The Fall of the Towers, the section about the Arasaka Tower raid at the end of the Fourth Corporate War, while hacking into Arasaka's subnet, Spider comments that (the currently totally-wrapped-up-in-his-emotions-and-fantasies) Silverhand changed his hair. (FYI, Cyberpunk RED is canon, and what happens in Fall of the Towers supersedes what happens in-game in Johnny's memories)

    https://preview.redd.it/8re7uvjab0281.png?width=499&format=png&auto=webp&s=1f00c98a5d584f2de255fbc5f9f2f8e9a958df14

Johnny responds to Spider saying that she cut her braid:

    https://preview.redd.it/ktxnrojbb0281.png?width=491&format=png&auto=webp&s=9e578e83c98c7c2845570b8a4967018deeec4ede

This line didn't mean anything to me at first, but it did sit in my mind and stew around, eventually coming up later when I read some other materials. Now, In-game, Spider Murphy appears on the raid and is the one who both helps Johnny enter the building and aids him in uploading the protocol to the subnet (lol like he's doing any netrunning).

During the raid in 2023, she's wearing a combat netrunner suit for cooling, a ballistic helmet of some variety (sensible given she's not a solo) and an infovisor. This is very reminiscent of the suit classic Spider wore, likely meant to represent that in the new artstyle:

    https://preview.redd.it/xj2g8q5db0281.png?width=496&format=png&auto=webp&s=53f706529ed9816eb2126f56da7afb9bd6e00264

Right, decidedly no braid. Okay, so that makes sense, but it also implies she originally had a braid, doesn't it? It does, but for the longest time, I had no clue as to who the hell that could possibly be.

    ...

Now, I'd read Cyberpunk 2020's corebook before, and I'd seen this character, but was never able to put together two and two about who it was. None of the descriptions on the "Some Personalities of Night City" page match up with the image on the page, and there's no caption, leaving me quite stumped. Said character appears as such:

    https://preview.redd.it/b3dkustdb0281.png?width=352&format=png&auto=webp&s=f7208c3806976f363c04c62688bcccfba9906a81

I forgot about this image for the longest time, still unaware of who the hell this could've been, but it must've stuck because it was what jogged my memory.

This, by itself with no additional text claiming it's Spider would be quite weak. "Oh, she's got a braid, got any other proof it's supposed to be Spider and not just one of any number of women with braided hair? No? Bye!"

    But there's more.

In Rache Bartmoss' Guide to the NET, released posthumously by Spider on behalf of Bartmoss, at the end of the book, some stats are listed with blurbs. In 2020, people use ICONs on the net. Think Ready Player One, with a character model/appearance that you can change and configure to your preferences. Spider's ICON is noted to be a "rather 'well-endowed' Japanimation-style icon".

    https://preview.redd.it/ojn9j58gb0281.png?width=469&format=png&auto=webp&s=4a149796743f485a179b3545b9aa91793e5b46de

Ok, so we're looking for, at least, an anime girl icon with braided hair.

Well, when reading through Firestorm: Shockwave, the book detailing the second half of the Fourth Corporate War (The Hot War and End Game), there's a section describing what happened to the net during the war. Similarly to the 2020 corebook's issue, there's an image without a label, otherwise unspecified who it is. Fortunately, this time, there is a label of sorts and it's on the arm of the ICON in the background:

    https://preview.redd.it/n3lvw53hb0281.png?width=638&format=png&auto=webp&s=8c16fef54058f90d843cba55de19b076c7583601

Bingo! That's it! It's literally labeled Spider (on the ICONs arm), meaning that this character has to be Spider Murphy. So now we know, this is (canonically as far as RED is concerned) what Spider Murphy would have looked like in the 2020s when not in the raid combat getup (albeit expect her look to be tweaked if it appears in-game). The more ya' know.

I just wanna say holy shit, thanks CDPR for putting so much detail and care into this. I've been digging through past lore about all sorts of things, and so much of what's in the game can be sourced back to parts of the books, or other official sources.

Another example is Drausin, the ringer Nancy got for one of the roles in A Like Supreme (the concert). Drausin is from Cutthroat, a band whose first mention was in an article in Cyberpunk 2013's book, Welcome to Night City, released in 1988. It's fascinating, and I wish more games could do lore in this way, or this extensively.

Why you should avoid most YouTube channels when it comes to gaming news

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 06:18 AM PST

Why you should avoid most YouTube channels when it comes to gaming news

"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

-Robert J Hanlon (aka Hanlon's Razor)

I've been trying to follow the news surrounding this game for quite a while, and... frankly the level of reporting and just blatantly coming up facts is so stunning I just have to list up the ones I can just pull out of my head in just 1 month.

Channels with over 1 million subscribers making claims like:

    • "1.3 just dropped last month" by Inside Gaming, when it came out ~5 month ago, patch 1.31 came out ~4 months ago
    • "Game is dead. Looks like they've completely given up." by DreamCastGuy, when he finds out there may not be patch in Christmas
    • "I've not played the game, but I know it deserves 0 rewards." by ReviewTechUSA, when he finds out that Cyberpunk 2077 is among the list nominated best game rewards in 2 categories
    • "CDPR has huge problem, game being sold $10." by Open World Games, when game is being sold cheap in certain specific stores, not realizing the game copies have already been bought from CDPR and they could charge 5 dollars or 5 000 dollars for copy without CDPR making any money in process. Nintendo doesn't get millions from unopened copies of Mario Bros when they are sold in Ebay, so doesn't Cyberpunk lose any money from unsold copies that stores have already stacked in their shells.

Then a lot of miscellaneous idiocy from pretty much everyone I can remember just summer time, where most notable was "Multiplayer is completely cancelled." which was said by pretty much everyone after they made statement that they've reconsidered the separate multiplayer title, and said to work multiplayer for all titles in the future. Clearly everyone failing to understand plain English.

CDPR job listings June 3rd 2021

clicking one of the multiplayer listings has interesting \"Nice to Have\" section

Simultaneously CDPR had Job Listings page with clear indications of the exact controversy.

In fact there was speculations in surprisingly similar date when these CDPR listings came out, here's TechRadar giving "analysis" just 2 days before I found out the job listing:

    https://preview.redd.it/zxu337r9o6281.png?width=624&format=png&auto=webp&s=d5d5457ecda74fc7af76c8428c49e2c74bb619a5

Its interesting how many YouTubers especially just pounced on this article, and yet never dared to check actual sources which would be reliable... like CDPR's own website.

Then a ton of bad judgement when the game was released from channels like TheActMan who claimed the rollercoaster in Cyberpunk 2077 "not even working like in the trailer", (even though it should have been easy to verify with a single YouTube search to be working), and making claims like the game crashes in high end PC (even though the real reason had been totally different) with a lot of proof of the controversy. After over 300 hours of gameplay, playing since launch, my RTX2080 crashed only once in 1.22 and it could have been hardware failure all I know.

And may I remind one of the biggest controversy with Cyberpunk's launch? Crowbcat video about the apparent overflowing amount of bugs, which was already further encouraged by angry gamers.

Every YouTube "journalist" jumped on opportunity to report about this trending video as if it was 100% proof of how terribly the game was running on almost any platform.

Let me tell you something. 95% of the issues you see on this compilation you would never witness on SSD, and even with HDD you're going to get 1 of these maybe once every 1-2 hours, but the video makes it seem like every single NPC has blurred face upon approaching, NPC's just randomly explode when stepping in car and suicide (even though these are scripted events), and cars are just continuously flying in the air when summoned.

If you play the launch patch, you could play 1000 hours and not see a single car flying, so this wasn't some common phenomena, but because of how cleverly this "disappointment" was marketed with sad music and interviews, the video got a lot of false credibility to push down a narrative of failed launch, and it worked... even while game run fine on pro models and next gen versions, and even base models that had installed SSD drives.

Did the game crash a lot. Yes, that part has been proved. Many people have shown footage of their consoles on launch, even with next gen consoles, and suffered crash within 1-4 hours of gameplay. Did police spawn behind the player when standing on specific inaccessible areas? Yes. That issue took quite a long time to fix, and was eventually fixed in 1.21. Are there still issues? Yes. The police system is still lacking appropriate overhaul. The NPC retention when they panic should be addressed, but just like Deux Ex games, the game simply wasn't developed with police combat as main priority... though everyone must agree it should have been more polished aspect.

I am not here to defend the launch problems and issues with memory leaks and what issues still remain unsolved, but most of the outrage was taken far out of reality thanks mostly due to YouTube community hype focusing on the glitch compilation and calling the game disaster. And yes there was review embargo BECAUSE the pre-release copy of the game didn't have the launch day patch which tried to take out majority of the visible bugs.

Just to repeat: I'm no way excusing what happened in release, it should have been polished few extra months (but I can understand the need to get it released in Christmas sales... it's just sad reality how humans operate and how important these seasonal sales are).

There was likely similar vision as from Witcher 3 launch, that the company would be able to get the next gen version or expansion out for next Christmas sales, and sadly that didn't happen, mostly probably due to the hack and it's immediate impact for the work for 2-3 weeks, and the recovery that must have taken months to fully get on track.

But even if the controversy was mostly just YouTube, here's how Forbes talked about glitch compilation, which was artificially manufactured to be very outrageous by compiling videos from thousands of creators, showing bugs, most which could have been from pre-release unpatched version, showing things like chokehold catapulting you to air which I've not seen a single Streamer EVER be able to repeat.

    \"Is a must-watch\"

Now, why would "reputable" company like Forbes destroy it's "reputation" by recommending followers to watch intentionally misleading work sourly intent on making exaggerated amount of glitches that most players would never witness (if you exclude the police spawning)?

I'm not calling conspiracies here, but I find it very strange how YouTube video made by a known troll with very similar kinds of works is being promoted as "must-watch".

    Anyway...

Then there's a ton of videos throughout the year just posted daily by someone coming up with a rumor. "Oh there's a certain datamined pictures of file names, seems 100% legit, no way someone could've falsified it."

    https://preview.redd.it/li066vtqo5281.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=75d0c33bca66699e7061bd2fe977f29536e2208d

These are the same people who were 100% sure that Nintendo Switch Pro is going to be announced in E3 with ability to upscale games to 4K resolution, just because someone came up with a "leaked photo"... so what happened to that fiasco? Did everyone already forgot how badly the audience got lied to?

Seriously, why do we give these channels any attention?

They've been more wrong on things than they make videos. Their ability to analyze the data is kindergarten level. Their ability to do research is literally copying someone elses work from Reddit and claiming it as their own.

There's a pretty significant different when it comes to these... gossip channels and real news, and that's their inability to VERIFY what they read, where real news has to have multiple reporters on ground, verifying and talking to different groups of people.

You'd think it's not hard to keep similar standards and just check if there's any links to reliable news sources in a given news, check what's being talked about and see if you can verify yourself from accessing the game, asking others how to verify the datamined files etc... just a basic level of curiosity should do most of this.

I could imagine half of these channels reporting thing like "BIG NEWS: Cyberpunk multiplayer is going to come out December 10th" if the topic just gains over 100 upvotes.

And like the beginning quote states, I don't think these people are doing this all because of malice or greed, they're just simply not reliable news source because they're not educated on things like verifying news or incapable of seeing the damage they might do when reporting false information.

And YouTube is full of people like these who have millions of people following them, while they spread mostly false information with the pretense of "Hey I'm just expressing an opinion of what's really happening."

Is this the world we want to live in? World where we're constantly showered by false information and people just needing to get educated to not follow these channels. I know there freedom of the press is important and I wouldn't want to live on a world run by only 3 news outlets, but there's got to be better way to inform people than having these fake news channels pushed up the top of the search results just because they've convinced a bunch of young impressionable people to follow them.

On top of this, these channels work in general as an echo chambers for the most provocative opinions of minorities. Cyberpunk 2077 was sitting steadily at Mostly Positive in Steam, and these people take their review scores from Metacritic, a place where anyone can just post a review without having even a copy of the game.

They're also generally bad at simple analysis and making comparisons. For example you hear many of these channels talking about the falling player numbers of each month, as if you ought to have more people playing single player game with no noticeable improvements done on the game that would persuade someone playing the game. (Not saying the work done throughout the year isn't important, it's just not significantly changing the gameplay or adding new mechanics to extend gameplay.

Lets talk about how "game should have already received paid DLC" uttered my many channels.

Just in comparison to game like Dark Souls.

The game was released in September 22, 2011.

Artorias of the Abyss DLC was released in August 24 2012 ( 11 months later )

This was before Covid, and on a game where enemies share same level of generic AI, dialogues can be easily mass produced and implemented due to lack of lipsyncing. NPC characters you interact don't even have movement and they just switch location when you rest on Bonfire.

So I don't get this idea that a new DLC should've been an easy job for a massive game like Cyberpunk 2077 is. And this is under distance working in a worst pandemic in 100 years.

These YouTubers don't even understand how real work is done. They just expect people to be able to stay as productive as they are, when they log into check Reddit posts and when put on a camera and talk 15 minutes about what they've seen. This is completely separate than trying to communicate with team members in a massive project through messaging apps.

The level of entitlement of these guys is clearly on par with anyone who's never had an actual career in their lives, aka. the kids, who are most susceptible for this kind of anti-intellectual "Damn lazy CDPR workers" rhetoric.

We should be much more positive as community and stop dogpiling on big companies just because some guy was able to make a compilation of the glitches and post it on YouTube, and every YouTuber making it seem like the whole game is unplayable with their poor reporting skills.

If Skyrim was released today, it would probably get 0/10 review bombs just because of the blind expectations of these people who aren't mature enough to vote.

But I wouldn't trust any of these people would give apology (including these angry gamer reviewers who's income depends on gullible 12 year olds) since their whole shtick is to be shameless loudmouth who "says how it really is" with their unfiltered and hostile tone.

(Not saying all their content is bad, just lazy and poorly researched, and they tend to get a lot of critical information horribly wrong)

    https://preview.redd.it/ftbermyar6281.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=28b3efd95d819a58c3948a50f232270728411a9b

Hats off and salutes to Tyler McVicker for actually being the most reliable news source in the sea of mostly negatively driven and misleading reporting. If you're actually following any of the other beforementioned channels, I recommend you to switch to subscribing to Tyler.

Loot system makes this game feel less immersive to me

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 09:49 AM PST

I wish this was more Fallout 4-esque where you kill an enemy and the gear they have on is the gear you can loot from them when they die. Killing an enemy and them having completely random loot that sometimes contradicts what you see on their person is a big immersion killer.

Also, being able to pick any and everything up with no consequence is another one. I walk into someone's room and start swiping Eddies right in front of their face with no reaction whatsoever? Kinda weird, an "ownership" system would've been logical.

This game wants you to be immersed in its setting while doing everything possible to not facilitate that immersion.

I’d like to give a warm welcome to all the new players

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 08:16 AM PST

I've noticed a recent influx of new players to Cyberpunk 2077 and to this subreddit, likely due to the recent discounts for Black Friday.

I wanted to welcome all you new players both to Night City and to this subreddit. While the game is not perfect, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with what's there and, if you're on pc, there's many mods you can download and have fun with, too.

This subreddit has thankfully calmed down since the game launch nearly a year ago. Most of the toxicity has left, leaving the remaining passionate community to do its thing so feel free to share your experiences, feats and cool photos.

I hope you have fun and wish you all the best

Some ideas I would like for the game

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 06:49 AM PST

V's Apartment: - Ability to buy new apartments, ranging from cheaper megabuilding apartments to buying higher quality ones like Sandra Dorsett's or the apartment in the Sun Ending - The ability to customise apartments, changing wallpapers, floors, adding decorations, maybe also adding extra utilities - such as installing a bath which can grant you certain boosts after having one, a weapon cleaning device in the armoury which can grant boosted damage for a certain amount of time - Some apartments will have a braindance room or lighting setting which allows you to have certain bonuses after watching a braindance - Purchasable record player so you can listen to vinyls you find throughout the world and can possibly purchase songs you like and have them playing in the apartment. E.g. when 'delicate weapon' releases in game after the lizzy wizzy questline, you can purchase it from a street vendor and have it playing ad background music in the apartment instead of relying on the radio - The ability to change makeup in the apartment by looking into the mirror

New gameplay systems: - Implementation of flathead and other combat machines which have different abilities and can aid V automatically or manually during combat and stealth, such as a flying drone - The ability to purchase braindances from street dealers and to play braindances you find throughout the game. The majority could be entertainment, blackout bd's and sexual bd's but some could maybe lead to a questline (for an example, rescuing kidnapped people who you found through a bd) - The ability to have vanity cyberware, choosing weather we would like realskin or to go chrome, maybe we could keep our arms real skin but alter our legs and torso to be chrome. Being able to change the colour of the chrome to a wide variety, maybe even having patterns and engravings. This could even go as far as to changing the shape of the mantis blades or the blade colour - the more options the better

World: - More open buildings, megabuildings looking different from each other - New open world activity: Siege. Some previously locked apartment buildings are now open, each floor infested with gang members. Choose your approach into the building, going stealthily through windows? going all out through the front door? maybe climbing your way around the building and letting your flathead do all the work as you control it from outside? Either way, youll have to clear the floors from the bottom all the way to the top, giving it a wave-like feel. when you get to the top, there'll be a bossfight and a reward would include receiving a new combat robot, this is how you obtain them. These could be in Pacifa only to give it the feeling of being overrun with gang crime - making it unique with this activity. - Vehicle garages for customisation, change your wheels, tires, spoilers, trims, paint job, light colour, acceleration - much like the vanity cyberware, just go crazy with options - You can customize your V's face and body as well as hair by visiting a ripperdoc - More random events and more joytoys dotted around the map instead of just 2 in the entire city

Relationships: - Completing Judy's relationship allows you to access her illicit braindance collection which she gives you access to in order to rescue the people in them. These will act as new gigs, with Judy talking to you over the holo as the operation progresses - Completing Panam's relationship allows you to get advanced vehicle customisation, being able to increase your speed and handling even more, as well as specific new appearance options - Completing River's relationship allows you to receive very powerful weapon mods from him - Completing Kerry's relationship allows you to receive unique vinyls his such as his yacht song and other projects he may have had as well as unlocking some past audio logs of him and johnny - Dating system where you can choose a bar to go to in Night City and there will be pre-recorded dialogue with Judy/Panam/River/Kerry, you can choose wether to return to their apartment or yours afterwards and choose whether to continue talking, engage sexually or leave. This would take a lot of writing and scripting and some new animations but I think it'll pay off as you'd be able to continue the relationship instead of getting really close to them at the end of their questline and then things feeling empty afterwards.

Other additions: - More weapons in each category, especially LMG - More cyberware - More takedowns, environmental takedowns. (pushing enemies out windows and slamming them against walls) - Fixing transitions between animations, V and other NPC's would no longer feel or look stiff and animations would smoothly transition rather than clipping - this will make a big change and make the game feel a lot less janky - Increase in game difficulty, even when not specialising in any skill tree, I feel as if the gameplay isn't challenging enough

Tiny additions: - Adding road marker GPS cyberware - Adding flashlight cyberware - Being able to purchase the 'Jackie Welles' at the Afterlife - Being able to skip the braindance tutorial similar to the T-bug tutorial - Adding cyberware which changes the UI of the game, so we can experience the game with the E3 demo UI - V having animations for pressing elevator buttons, drinking and eating - same length as using medical items - Being able to play the new weapon animation at any time

I think adding these as well as increasing the general stability of the game going forward until we have to look for bugs to find them could increase the game's replay-ability and entertainment as well as immersion factor by a lot

To my surprise, one of the best games I’ve played

    Posted: 26 Nov 2021 03:26 PM PST

I was mad skeptical about this game at first, but a couple months back I bought it when it was on sale for like $40 bucks. I wasn't expecting much nd I was honestly blown away.

To preface, I like to write and read a lot. So when I started tha game nd went through tha tutorial I was ecstatic. The world building in this game deserves its own thread, from tha slang down to tha names of clubs and their aesthetics, it's all done really well. Another thing that blew me away was tha writing for plots.

Tha main story is different from many plots that have been told in recent memory. What couldve been an easy game of just you and Jackie doing jobs nd rise up to tha status u have at tha games beginning was actually you tryna save yourself from a malfunctioning chip that contained a ghost of Keanu Reeves. Not to mention the side quest have just as much care into their plots and writing as tha main story.

Tha ones that always stands out to me is tha delamain taxi missions and tha vending machine. Sentience in AI is usually displayed a la terminator types but this was different. From a taxi cab suffering existential dread to a vending machine being friends wit it's customers, this topic was done differently which I really appreciated.

Overall, the good outweighs tha bad in this game and the updates have lessened that gap. I have easily put in 80 hrs into tha game and still haven't beat it as I want to do more, which is rare considering I like to finish games fast.

    7.5/10 game

I'd give it a higher score once bugs nd misc. stuff is fixed up, my biggest gripe is tha lack of npcs nd cars when driving or walking around night city. Other than that, it's solid

I have the game since last year. (High end pc) and want to finally play the game. I would like to have it balanced and with better ai, character customisation etc.

Is there a good and easy to follow guide somewhere?
