Input from an investor on Q3...

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 04:26 PM PST

Hi, I am an investor of CD Project Red and I have attended to today's live broadcast meeting Q3 results. I'd like to give my two cents of opinion about how you should evaluate CD Project Red's management, their vision of the company and some of their answers vs. the investor profile dominant in the gaming industry.

First of all, yes I do own considerable amount of CD Project Red shares. I do intend to hold onto them until the next two AAA titles if not longer. I intend not to "shill" anything but it's still within my interest if CD Project Red share price becomes oversold (pumps). So, read the rest of the story with that in mind.

I am a gamer like last 30 years (Yes I have Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 too) and I literally felt sick hearing that QA questions at the end of this Q3 meeting. Capitalism's old greedy minds are still dominant in this industry.

You can read the Q3 presentation yourself here: https://www.cdprojekt.com/en/wp-content/uploads-en/2021/11/cd-projekt-group-presentation-q3-2021-results-1.pdf

But again, my post will be only about the QA section of the meeting which happened around 18:15 CET - 18:50 CET.

At the end of the meeting, CD Project Red management started to take questions from institutional investors, or so called "whales" or their representers. Whale is a term we use in trading for the very rich guys and they can basically set the tone of the stock chart's trend by injecting millions of dollars and causing "a pump" on the chart. They can start a sell-off too if they own a lot of CD Project Red shares. By selling large quantities of shares at short time, they can cause a massive stop-loss trigger and panic seller drama. So, let that sink in, they are like absurdly rich and you are just a shrimp trying to follow their moves. But a smart shrimp can still become a fish or shark, or even outsmart them at times. They feed on the dumb trader, the lazy trader, and the traders that listen to twitter / youtube accounts.

Anyway back to subject, you can see names of some of the so called "institutions" that asked questions in that QA here: https://www.cdprojekt.com/en/investors/analysts/

I will call them "whale representers". Majority of questions these whale representers shocked me, made me laugh, but then made me sad too as a gamer. But listening to them can help you realize the current state of the gaming industry and where CD Project Red management stands. Afterall, I really do think CD Project is on the right path, even though you might be disappointed with them after Cyberpunk.

    In the QA:

One whale investor representer asked about when they are going to raise the price of Cyberpunk?

I mean really? You must be either mentally challenged to not know that the most expensive time of a game is the very first launch, or you have zero, literally zero idea about gaming industry. They think, if the game is fixed the price should be increased, to milk the customer base as much as possible. Just by hearing this question, I could guess the age of the investor profile (no offense to any old people).

CD Project Red guys said no we won't do that. Extra content will be free.

One whale investor representer asked about whether CD Project Red will implement game microtransactions "pay to win" model like competitors Activision Blizzard or Ubisoft? Again, to milk the customer base. It can be cosmetics or game breaking powerful items doesn't matter much, priority is to get your money and generate a stable income, with zero shits given of what the game will become. Just by hearing the question you could again guess what kind of investor profile he represents. He reminded me of someone working in Activision Blizzard high up in the rankings.

CD Project Red guys said no we won't do microtransactions. End of story.

One investor representer asked when will Black Friday discounts be over? You could really feel that he was literally concerned about the cheap prices. He was disturbed by black friday and he wants it to end ASAP. You wanna laugh or cry? There are people exists with this mindset. He had zero idea about gaming industry or discount cycles. How many times Witcher games have entered to discounts and how many times it still broke records?

CD Project Red guys said, black friday is a industry standard each year and each years' discount will end at the same time as other games.

Other whale investor representers tried to get some dates of AAA titles or DLCs so they can get some hint of when "to long" and when "to short" the stock most likely.

CD Project Red guys didn't crack and didn't give any dates to anyone other than rough estimations. They said it's confidential, we'll release when it's ready. They also mentioned that they intent to have longer testing periods and not launch anything broken. I really do think they learned their lesson of overpromising / underdelivering.

Of course you can criticize CD Project Red, and you should when you are unhappy with their product. But, after listening to these investors, you can guess what's going on in other companies in the industry.

It's full of crooks out there boys. They are old, sick, careless, greedy, they do not give a damn about you, they have zero idea about gaming, they even probably have never played a PC game. You are cashcow and that's it.

I know some of you are mad at them. After Witcher games we all set high standards for Cyberpunk, maybe too high. We wanted an experience of a lifetime just like we did with Witcher. But, I still congratulate CD Project Red of keeping their core values alive in this horrible environment. I think in time things will be better just give some time...just my two cents...

If you played Cyberpunk, please read Neuromancer

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 03:26 PM PST

So I played Cyberpunk since day one with 200 hours and 2 playthroughs. I tried starting another one last week but it didn't feel right but I still needed my dose of cyberpunk. I picked up the daddy of all of Cyberpunk, Neuromancer by William Gibson. For those who don't know, this book basically kickstarted and inspired the whole cyberpunk genre. It created a lot of the terms we see in cyberpunk and other media like "cyberdeck", "cyberspace" etc. I'm only 50 pages in but I LOVE it so far. This book has a unique writing style and uses a lot of made up terms but if you played cyberpunk, a lot of the terms in the book make sense because all our current cyberpunk media is basically derived from this book.

My short analysis; Henry Dorsett Case is a console cowboy who was stripped of his ability to enter cyberspace when he tried to steal from his employers. He ends up becoming a low-life thug who committs petty-level crimes to make a living. He ends up getting sick and doesn't have sufficient funds to seek treatment. He's approached by a man called Armitage who offers him treatment and money if he completes a job. He's set-up with a bodyguard razorgirl and future lover going by Molly Millions.

p.s. this book created a lot of the clichés you see to this day so it may kinda seem a bit lame but just keep in mind that this was the O.G.

For context Cyberpunk had mostly positive reviews BEFORE the Black Friday sale.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 01:36 PM PST

I remember visiting the store page a couple weeks ago and being surprised when the reviews were mostly positive. So it's not like pc players suddenly started like bombing the game on steam.

On PC RT Ultra Settings with DLSS Performance running a 3080 Ti/12900K, the game truly looks like CGI at times, its really insane. I don't even care that I am getting between 55-60 FPS lol
