Posted: 11 Jun 2021 06:54 AM PDT I just completed my first ending with Corpo V, allying with Hanako, and with V potentially returning as an Arasaka employee in the future. V gets a surgery in an Arasaka space station where the biochip is removed and an Arasaka neurosurgeon rewires what's left of their brain in a mostly working fashion. V has a Synesthesia side effect where they smell and see everything in a tint of purple, I tought it was a very nice touch, showing just how much Arasaka had to rewire. News during recovery show Suburu Arasaka takes over the body of Yorinobu Arasaka, restoring the world as it was. Citizen are spooked that the rich can now even wear the body of their children and live forever, religions are spooked too. Suburu says it nicely: "I didn't need permission to be born. I don't need permission to be reborn. Deal with it." A very lengthy scene follows where the doctor does test upon test and V fails to do basic things like solving a 2x2x2 cube or run on a threadmill. Communication with friends on Earth all end with a sour note, it's cleare none down there are cool with V selling themselves to Arasaka. It's a long scene that really drives it in just how much V has lost along the way. My V surrendered to Arasaka and cooperated with all tests, and in the end managed to succeed at the cube. In the final choice, Takemura disclose that the procedure was a failure and V is not long for this world, my V literally sold their soul to Arasaka on a contract with the promise that in the future, when technology is there, a new body will be created to host V personality. I find it a really sad ending, but at the same time so fitting. Corpo V started as a gear in Arasaka, was discarded, then V tried finding a new path, eventually going against Arasaka. In the end, to survive they had to surrender to Arasaka. The final scene with V just staring at the "Save Your Soul" chair is very powerful, V has none of the life they first expressed, and seem just an empty husk. This ending left me with more questions than answers...
