Notes: - Use this thread for all of your simple/short questions. - Posts submitted with the question flair will be redirected here. - If you want to post a question to trigger a discussion, we suggest using the discussion flair instead. (e.g a question about lore fits the Discussion flair more than the Question flair)

    Militech: History & Overview

    Posted: 10 May 2021 09:58 PM PDT

    -- Militech Data--

    Corporation: Militech International Armaments

Branches: Arms and Vehicles Manufacturing: Mercenary Contracting

Year Founded: 1996, Restructured Circe 2000

    Founder: Antonio Lucessi

    Headquarters: Washington, DC

Branch Offices: New York, Chicago, Pheonix, Philadelphia, Jacksonville, Denver, Portland

Key People: Donald "Dixie" Lundee, Gale Gibbs, Melissa Cruz

    Employees: 647,500

    Value: 1.2 Trillion Eurodollars

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    --Company Overview--

Militech is one of the world's largest manufacturers of weapons and military vehicles, with facilities on every continent. The company provides equiptment for hundreds of nations and private and government organisations, especially US military and police forces. This equiptment includes but is not limited to personal firearms, drones, tanks, aircraft, ships, and Assisted Combat Personnel Armor. It's second branch provides private military forces for defense, peacekeeping, and nation-building missions.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    --History--

Founded in 1996 by Italian weapon designer Antonio Lucessi as Armatech-Lucessi International, the company emerged as one of the competitors for the new US Army Infantry Assault Weapon system contract. Under the leadership of retired US Army General Donald Lundee, the young corporation earned its stripes in 2004 after winning the US Army's contracts for both primary weapons and sidearms with its famous Ronin Light Assault Rifle. Since then, Militech has expanded its catalog, selling modern and affordable equiptment all around the world, regardless of political affiliations and conventions.

Militech was one of the major participants in the Fourth Corporate War, during which it clashed violently with its rival company, Arasaka. After the nuclear detonation of Arasaka's Night City headquarters, President Elizabeth Kress nationalised Militech, using its assets to strengthen the collapsing power of the US military. The corporation has since regained some of its independence, and several of its board members still hold high-ranking offices in the Ministry of Defense.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    -- Controversies--

Militech is often accused of taking part in ethically shady or blatantly illegal black ops, such as hiring out their private military to support revolutions, military coups, assassinations, terrorist attacks, and ethnic cleansings. The company was also suspected of planting and detonating the nuclear bomb in Arasaka's Night City headquarters in 2023, though no evidence has ever validated those claims.

I like the story, but i wish they had gone with a different plot.

    Posted: 10 May 2021 07:03 AM PDT

i got the game a few days ago, and for the most part i am enjoying it, but i had the sudden realisation earlier that the plot does not fit the game well in my opinion. i am supposed to be mere weeks away from flatlining thanks to the chip, yet the game encoureges me to go around and do side jobs, gigs and buy fancy cars? doesn't really make sense to me, you would think my one and only focus should be on finding a solution. the whole idea that you are running out of time pretty much gets thrown out the window if you decide to focus on side content instead of only doing the main story.

I really think that if CDPR makes a DLC that just extends the interaction with the world like get access to get in those interior or actually sit down at the bar and have some drink not only in mission, eat some street food with actual animation. if they did this the game is going to feel so much more lively.

What's up with people being upset about Jackie?

    Posted: 10 May 2021 01:10 PM PDT

So I came across this article and I was confused as to why people thought his death was disappointing? I know he was a great character but the E3 2019 trailer was a cinematic version of his death. So going into we knew he was going to die. I thought it was a great plot moment for him to die so V loses everything before s/he "dies" but s/he has to live on after losing so much. I agree I wish him dying had more of a presence after the heist but I just don't get why people were surprised when him dying was in the marketing material.

The best depiction of the state of Cyberpunk 2077 is the amount of photo mode content on this subreddit and lack of gameplay/lore discusssions.

Performance Issues on High End System, Hoping to Find Someone with a Similar Setup

    Posted: 10 May 2021 09:53 PM PDT

Recently finally managed to get a GPU upgrade, went from a 1080ti over to a 6900xt, absolutely love the card, but the HORRIBLE frame timing in Cyberpunk 2077 is making it almost impossible to play my favorite game. Wondering if anyone else with a similar setup is experiencing the same issues? From what I've seen it should be totally playable on my setup.

    • 3970X Threadripper
    • 128GB of RAM
    • 6900XT stock clocks
    • game is on an SSD

I've messed with a ton of settings but I can't get things to run smooth at all, every few seconds as I'm turning around the framerate is all over the place and frame timing is absolutely inconsistent.

Anyone else with a similar setup by chance having no issues?
