Be careful everyone! They are doing this on PCGAMING reddit too

You all can go into your settings and turn off PMs and chat requests. You'll still receive actual mod messages if you need them. For old reddit it's under the blocked tab.

    Cyberpunk 2077 Review Megathread

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 09:05 AM PST

    Review Aggregator:

    OpenCritic - 91 average - 97% recommended - 40 reviews

    Critic Reviews

    Areajugones - Víctor Rodríguez - Spanish - 9.5 / 10

Cyberpunk 2077 is the ultimate power fantasy. A video game that takes the best of modern RPG, first-person shooter, stealth, and the open world and masterfully blends it into a single product. If Skyrim and GTA V marked a before and after for their genres at the beginning of the 2010s, Cyberpunk 2077 is called to do the same from this 2020.

Eurogamer - Chris Tapsell - Unscored

Beyond the bombast and the bugs, Cyberpunk 2077 has a very human heart

    Everyeye.it - Alessandro Bruni - Italian - 9 / 10

And it is precisely for this reason that, despite all the technical problems of the production, we cannot in any way fail to assign a vote of excellence to the work of CDPR: the defects will disappear over time, but already now Cyberpunk 2077 is a title which undoubtedly deserves a place of honor in all players' library.

    Game Informer - Andrew Reiner - 9 / 10

An open world you can get lost in and continue finding new things to do

    GameMAG - Александр Копанев - Russian - 9 / 10

It's definitely feels like with Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt RED tried to tell a really meaningful story, while using as a backdrop truly a unique setting. And all the while the developers made sure that the game still feels approachable by all kind of people, and that it presents itself with insane graphical fidelity painting an image of an eerily realistic world of tommorow. We doubt there's too many people who don't believe in CD Projekt RED, but in case you're one of them, be warned - Cyberpunk 2077 is something that will change the way you look at the gaming industry as a whole.

    GameSpew - Richard Seagrave - 10 / 10

Cyberpunk 2077 isn't perfect, but it is ambitious. It marries a gripping story with a huge open world absolutely dripping with atmosphere; one in which, after fifty hours of gameplay, I still feel like I've only scratched its surface. Even now I'm itching to jump back in and complete yet more side jobs, not only because they're enjoyable, but also just in case they offer V more options when it comes to ending their story.

    GameSpot - Kallie Plagge - 7 / 10

Cyberpunk 2077 has standout side quests and strong main characters, though its buggy, superficial world and lack of purpose bring it down.

    GameWatcher - Marcello Perricone - 9 / 10

A remarkably well-executed open world game whose greatest heights exceed its deepest failings.

    Gameblog - Gianni Molinaro - French - 10 / 10

Cyberpunk 2077 is a new masterpiece from CD Projekt RED, a huge, dense, vibrant, colorfoul and dark Sci-Fi RPG that any fan of the genre should step in. First because it will provide the sensation that the story really depends on you choices and that you have everything you need for your playstyle. Then because streets, stores, buildings, inhabitants of Night City won't get out of your head easily. You'll be happy to interact with Keanu Reeves, but the real star is this city and all it provides in terms of atmosphere, game mechanics and stories.

    Gamersky - 不倒翁蜀黍 - Chinese - 9.1 / 10

Although there still exist a lot of technical glitches, Cyberpunk 2077 stands out in terms of cyberpunk concept, story-telling, characters, level-design, combat, and so forth. It's a pleasure to spend hundreds of hours in the Night City, and I believe it would be one of the greatest open-world RPGs in the next decade.

    GamesBeat - Jeff Grubb - 3 / 5 stars

It's fine to make a game like that — for many, that's the promise of Cyberpunk 2077. It just wasn't the promise to me.

    GamesRadar+ - Sam Loveridge - 5 / 5 stars

What Cyberpunk 2077 lacks in core campaign length, it makes up for with depth and soul, offering a world of intrigue and violence unlike any other.

    Geek Culture - Marion Frayna - 9.1 / 10

The dark future certainly looks promising, thanks to the collective imagination of the team at CD Projekt Red, which seems to know no bounds. Cyberpunk 2077 certainly took a while to come to our hands, but be glad it's finally here, for it is here to stay for a long time to come. And it certainly did not disappoint.

    Giant Bomb - Unscored

Early Impressions Discussion: They should have delayed this game even more

    One word: undercooked

    Hobby Consolas - David Martinez - Spanish - 98 / 100

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the greatest RPGs of the generation. We love Night City, its characters and great writing for every mission. It is also one of the best looking games out there (if your PC is powerful enough).

    IGN - Tom Marks - 9 / 10

Cyberpunk 2077 throws you into a beautiful, dense cityscape and offers a staggering amount of flexibility in how you choose to take it from there.

    M3 - Raphael Cano Felix - Swedish - 5 / 5 stars

A more emotive and engaging title is hard to find.

    Metro GameCentral - Unscored

Cyberpunk 2077 always had a danger of becoming a case of style over substance and we'll leave the final judgement on that until later. In terms of the environments, characters quests, and gameplay options though there's little sign of Projekt CD Red trying to take a shortcut.

    PC Gamer - James Davenport - 78 / 100

Some nice characters and stories nested in an astounding open world, undercut by jarring bugs at every turn.

    PCGamesN - Richard Scott-Jones - 9 / 10

Groundbreaking, but not quite as much as you're hoping it is. Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't surpass its brilliant influences, but in Night City, Johnny Silverhand, and its chilling vision of hyper-capitalism, it claims territory of its own.

Polygon - Carolyn Petit - Unscored

Cyberpunk 2077 is dad rock, not new wave

    PowerUp! - Leo Stevenson - 10 / 10

Frankly, Cyberpunk 2077 is the best video game I've ever played

    Press Start - Brodie Gibbons - 9 / 10

Cyberpunk 2077 is staggering, overwhelming, and even surprising at times in its spectacle. Although my first dozen hours with the game has been marred by easy-to-fix problems, Nighty City, along with all it offers and all that call it home, makes for an intoxicating escape. Here's hoping the next one hundred hours are as utterly compelling.

    RPG Site - 9 / 10

When Cyberpunk's grim setting and mix of gameplay systems land, it is a powerfully impressive experience - sprawling, dense, clever, witty, and most importantly damn good fun. Other times, it has all the charm of a moody, edgy teenager.

    SECTOR.sk - Peter Dragula - Slovak - 10 / 10

Absolutely stunning action game with a lot of content, deep RPG progres and dialogue. Another master-piece from CD Projekt Red!

    Saudi Gamer - Arabic - 8 / 10

An ambitious, maybe over ambitious, thrilling ride that falters when it comes to execution. The developer's strength shines through the world building and production, resulting in a unique mix that is let down by a myriad list of technical and AI problems.

    Screen Rant - 4 / 5 stars

Ultimately, it feels like Cyberpunk 2077 is a fitting bookend for the previous generation of games and a strong starting point for current-gen. Now it's time to start innovating again.

    Spaziogames - Italian - 9.5 / 10

Cyberpunk 2077 traces a new path for the open-world RPGs, telling a thought-provoking story about the dangerous drifts of humankind.

    Stevivor - Jay Ball - 9.5 / 10

The most important thing that everyone needs to know about Cyberpunk 2077 is that while it's imperfect, it is without a doubt a superb game.

    The Digital Fix - Andrew Shaw - 10 / 10

CD Projekt Red has set a new standard for what can be achieved in this sandbox. Cyberpunk 2077 is taking open-world gaming to the next generation.

    The Games Machine - Danilo Dellafrana - Italian - 9.5 / 10

Cyberpunk 2077 is a wild journey within an incredibly fascinating setting; some technical uncertainties destined to disappear and a partial repetitiveness limit its glory, but overall it is an adventure worthy of William Gibson himself. Cyberpunk 2077 allowed me to finally feel immersed in that pen & paper RPG I discovered in 1988, pouring rain clouding my view in a kaleidoscope of neon signs, just as I had imagined while leafing through those pages. Some may not consider it a perfect game, but I do.

    TheGamer - Kirk McKeand - 5 / 5 stars

I'm V and the game is Silverhand - I can't get Cyberpunk 2077 out of my head. I've had it a week and played 70 hours, which is probably about as healthy as scooping out my face and replacing it with electronics, but it didn't feel like work. Like a digital personality loaded onto a biochip, it felt like stepping into another life for a while. It's a life I can't wait to relive.

    TrueAchievements - Heidi Nicholas - 4.5 / 5 stars

It might not reinvent the genre in every aspect, but for a fantastic story, an insanely detailed word, and brilliant dialogue, you've got to try it.

TrueGaming - محمد البسيمي - Arabic - Unscored

Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely a technological wonder in the world of video games proving that CDPR has reached unprecedented heights that we could never imagine. They went above and beyond everything they have ever created in the Witcher series.

    TrustedReviews - Jade King - 4 / 5 stars

CD Projekt Red has created a triumphant RPG experience with Cyberpunk 2077, yet it often falters under the weight of its own ambition thanks to inconsistent writing and narrative

    VG247 - James Billcliffe - 5 / 5 stars

In the midst of such intense anticipation and scrutiny, it's easy to get carried away with what Cyberpunk 2077 could have been. The final experience might be more familiar than many predicted, with plenty of elements that aren't perfect, but it's dripping with detail and engaging stories. With so much to see and do, Cyberpunk 2077 is the kind of RPG where you blink and hours go by, which is just what we need to finish off 2020.

    Windows Central - Jez Corden - 5 / 5 stars

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world masterpiece that features some of the most immersive and liberating storytelling this industry has to offer. With full freedom to choose V's personality, looks, and gameplay style, Cyberpunk 2077 gives the player an unrelenting amount of control in a world that delivers dozens upon dozens of hours of high-quality content. Cyberpunk 2077 is a mammoth achievement and solidifies CD Projekt RED's place at the top of the pile.

It could've been so much worse

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 10:31 PM PST

Thank god the biggest complaint people have is about bugs. It could've been a 6/10 game where the gameplay leaves nothing to be desired, the story gets boring and it isn't fun.

Thank god we're going to get another witcher 3 scenario where the game starts amazing but buggy, then becomes (hopefully) one of the best games in a year thanks to the bug fixes and DLCs.

If you're upset about hearing that the game has bugs, just remember, it could've been SO much worse. We really did get the best of a bad situation. Bugs are fixable, bad gameplay is not.

Edit: Some people are confused with the intent of this post so allow me to clear it up:

I am not saying that the bugs should be ignored or excused because they can be patched. If the bugs are prominent, and they ruin the experience of playing the game, then yes, CDPR should recieve justified critisism for it. I'm simply stating that, since it is mostly the bugs that are at issue, they can be fixed and the final Cyberpunk 2077 product in a year's time will be similar to the witcher 3's now, a very good game.

    Cyberpunk 2077 Epileptic PSA

    It's not a bug it's a feature

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 10:15 PM PST

In the dark future of 2077, Neo-Christians practice a form of meditation known as the T-stance, or Jesus position. Masters of this technique are said to aquire the powers of levitation and teleportation.

Many people seen wandering around Night City are actually holographic avatars controlled remotely by undercover Netrunners. This allows them to phase-shift through walls and defy the laws of physics when their cover is blown. They have the ability to alt-tab out of any situation.

NCPD has reported a sharp rise in the number of indecent exposure cases. Suspects are said to have shouted incoherently (and threateningly) about their clothes suddenly disappearing off their bodies, before being promptly tazed and recycled by our heroes in blue. Some suspect a perverted invisible thief may be responsible and still at large.

Reports of vehicles falling from the sky - initially believed to be a hoax - are now confirmed after a local orphan shelter was crushed by a falling Arasaka armoured vehicle. Eyewitnesses claim an individual dressed like a space-clown-pimp was waiting at the scene and quickly escaped in the vehicle. It is believed these incidents are linked to recent tornado sightings in the Badlands.

AI-driven weapons can fly when they feel threatened, or when the registered owner is incapacitated. DO NOT APPROACH hovering firearms.

Recipients of brain implants are warned they will be subject to occasional blackouts and hallucinations, which will recede over time.

Cyberpunk 2077 Pros and Cons based on multiple Reviews (SPOILER FREE)

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 10:48 AM PST

After I've read and watched several Reviews of CP 2077, I created a list of Pros and Cons which were present in the majority of reviews. This list isnt't complete yet and please comment on further things which should be mentioned.

    PROs (+)

    Story, Quests

Incredible writing throughout almost all of the main and side quests. You don't feel like grinding a checklist, more like experiencing extremely well written stories during your entire journey to Night City.

+ interesting, well written characters throughout the entire game

    Presentation

Night City is one of the most immersive and believable open worlds out there. Not only the graphics, but the entire atmosphere is incredibly dense and makes you feel like actually being V in an incredible detailed dystopian city of the future. This counts for the beautiful soundtrack as well.

+ amazing voice acting for the german and english version of the game

    Extent

The main story is shorter than the one from the Witcher 3 and can be completet in about 25-30h. But neither does this affect your overall experience, nor are you done with the game after this period of time. This mainly relates to the very extensive "side" quests, which often don't fall short to the main quest but are just optional. Including everything else, like other open world activities, you can definitely spend close to 100h in Night City.

    Gameplay/Character System

While single aspects like stealth or gunplay do not stand out and are just good for most of the time, you have an incredible amount of variation to build your perfect playstyle. It's fun to experiment with the extensive skill tree, especially when creating hybrid builds.

    CONs (-)

    Balance/Looting

The major problem of Cyberpunk 2077. There're not as much interesting loot as you would expect and different playstyles are varying in difficulty. While using a Katana can be quite OP, heavy LMGs or SMGs are not as nice to use and aren't very satisfying either. The 4 difficulties are a quite unbalanced, mainly because the huge gap between "Normal" and "Hard", making the game either too hard or way to easy.

Customizing your Character is also not as fleshed out as CDPR told us before. This is caused by all the clothes having their own stats and no possibility of transmogging outfits. This often leads to hilarious looking Vs when using the items with the best stats. You CAN create nice outfits and find fitting clothing, but then you won't be able to create your perfect build gameplay wise.

    • some technical issues/bugs, but nothing gamebreaking //EDIT: It seems like the technical issues varied a lot, so be careful, there are definitely Gamebreaking bugs
    • AI sometimes stupid
    • UI needs optimization
    • TRANSMOG NEEDED

    Conclusion

Cyberpunk delivers us an amazing ride through Night City. Despite having minor, but mostly patchable flaws, it creates an outstanding immersion which is absolutely top notch when compared to every other open world game out there.

Reviewers have really rushed the game: This quote sums it all up for me.

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 10:47 AM PST

    https://stevivor.com/reviews/cyberpunk-2077-review-toss-an-eddie-to-your-fixer/

' As was the case in The Witcher series, side quests are not so much short deviations from the main story, but instead serve as complimentary pieces that overlap and intertwine with its narrative. They make Cyberpunk more about the journey and less about the destination. Having bypassed many of them in a bid to get through the campaign for the sake of this review, I learned the hard way that this may not have been the best approach; after roughly 36 hours, I watched end credits roll and by that time I had barely unlocked half of the perks available to any one of the character traits available. I fell well short of earning enough eddies (aka currency) to apply more than just a few cybernetic enhancements to my character. It left me feeling that either the game has some serious issues with balancing, or perhaps I just didn't play it "the right way". Looking over the quest log — which shows the tasks I've yet to complete — I'd estimate roughly a further 20 or 30 hours of gameplay could come from side quests alone. In short, take your time with this one. '

So play on hard and soak it all up Choombas!

A generous person here bought Cyberpunk for me.

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 10:15 AM PST

I'm just shocked. First or all huge shoutout to u/unscrambledeggz for buying me the game. Last night as my first post I talked about my situation in Iran and humble people like him came up to help. This guy just messaged me first otherwise others would've done it. I still can't believe it.

I honestly never thought there could be this much love in a gaming community. I owe you all so much for being supportive and helping me get through these times. You guys give me hope and show me that there is still good in this world. So many lovely comments from lovely people. I'm already daydreaming about my playthrough for the launch day.

I'm so emotional right now. I'll be thinking of this community every time I'm driving in Night City. Thanks to all of you.

Edit: Thanks again for the awards people. If you're willing to spend, you can scroll through the comments and see some people really struggling. Like someone cancelling their preorder bc of losing their job or someone else having a brain surgery. If you can, maybe help them out. Many people asked to help me so I'm sure there are some of you still out there who would help them out too. The world needs more love during these hard times.

Edit: someone tried spoiling the game via DM but I got lucky. Be careful people. Turn that thing off for a while if you comment or post like that other popular post said.

[KR] Inven review by Jeong Jae-hoon "In close to 60 hours, I have no choice to admit there is no negatives except a few glitches and bugs"

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 02:06 PM PST

Highlights (these are not all direct translations due to how poorly Korean translates to English):

    • "비디오 게임 사상 최고의 도시" (The greatest city in videogame history)
    • "게이머의 모든 행적과 결정은 수많은 인과관계를 만들어내고, 엔딩에 이르러 이 모든 것이 폭발한다" (all of your work and decisions effect the relationships of the people you meet, impacting the climax of the story)
(Similar to other open world games, such as "Elderscrolls" or "Fallout", you can tune your character in any way).
(You can be a swordsman, a killer that handles everything quietly with a silenced pistol, a master crafter [Thanks u/Steve_with_a_V for the corrected translation] or a cyberwizard, using smart weapons and quick hacking to burn down enemies)
(Cyberpunk has broken away from the long-lasting RPG distinction in a way that everyone has failed to do; it erased the gap between RPG and action-adventure)
[he asks himself: 'There is a major flaw somewhere I haven't found, and I'm going to write a review?'] (It made me uneasy. I couldn't find any downsides and I wasn't discouraged from it's shortcomings). - edited for further clarity

There are a few other notes such as he wanted test on a low-end PC for performance purposes but didn't due to the stability of review builds. He also encourages anyone who is sceptical to buy the game and play it, as once you play you'll be quickly immersed and the first impression knocks it out of the park

EDIT: added a few more sentences I thought were amusing from his review.

Clarification about the Day 1 patch

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 01:27 PM PST

    From PCGamer

" We received a 50GB patch during our review period. CDPR referred to this patch as the Day 0 patch. When asked for clarification whether the patch will be what players were receiving at launch, a CDPR representative told us that the Day 0 patch is what people will be experiencing on launch day. It is the Day 1 patch, only different in name. More fixes will be rolled into the Day 0 (Day 1) patch, but we cannot specify exactly what. "

Dildos are everywhere in Cyberpunk 2077

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 09:29 AM PST

The year is 2077. Corporations control everything. And dildos are everywhere. In Cyberpunk 2077, dildos are all over the place. In one sense, it's one of those consequences of the tough development grind on an open-world game. In another, it tells us something interesting about how developer CD Projekt RED has chosen to build its future dystopia.

Current performance statistics that are out are not an accurate representation of the performance launch day due to DRM.

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 03:03 PM PST

Basically the title. Gamers Nexus posted this on twitter,

    https://twitter.com/gamersnexus/status/1336066826233651202?s=21

Seen a few people with 1060's pretty upset due to the reported performance, so before you go and get too sad, wait for the game to come out. It might increase performance a few FPS, who knows.

For those worried about poor performance on PC - Please Read

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 02:54 PM PST

There is a lot of concern regarding PC performance for Cyberpunk and early test results showing lower than expected FPS numbers.

Let me clear up some confusion here as these initial benchmarks or reviewer's commenting on performance are not representative of the final version for release day.

First and foremost, ALL review copies currently in circulation have DRM (Digital Rights Management) or Piracy protection, specifically Denuvo. This is to stop the game leaking to pirate sites before release. Denuvo affects performance, especially when poorly implemented, which appears to be the case with Cyberpunk. The release version of Cyberpunk DOES NOT have DRM, for that very reason CDPR did not invest much effort into optimising Denuvo, so it affects performance more than in other games (like Assassin's Creed titles for instance).
So expect a performance boost already just from the fact that the final release copy of the game wont run Denuvo in the background.

In addition, Nvidia has not yet released their official drivers yet for CP, and CDPR has yet to release the final Day1 patch which is aimed to address "performance & stability".

All that combined will add up to a decent increase of performance for sure, so for now, please ignore PC benchmarks in circulation.

    Hope that helps

I made posters for Cyberpunk 2077 inspired by Blade Runner (1982) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

The EULA for Cyberpunk is actually really fun. Props to CDPR for actually making it enjoyable to read.

Some bugs encountered by journalists that I found funny (list)

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 07:52 PM PST

    • "so, so many floating cigarettes. Pretty much any time someone lights up, they leave one floating in space behind them"

    • Vehicles exploding randomly

    • Weird physics bugs - being punted 100 yards after brushing up against an NPC.

    • V casually walking in the streets then dropping on the ground and dying for no reason

    • Sometimes while driving V enters a T-pose and clips through the vehicle's roof, flickering between fully dressed and nude

    • Physics objects behaving erratically - a cart three times the size of a child hooked on their leg as they walk around dragging it behind them

    • Children spawning in front of a shooting gallery cowering and screaming and also making it impossible to partake in the shooting gallery—V automatically lifts their gun around kids

    • Characters talking over each other or repeating lines while prior line still finishing

    • Cars spawning in the path of a space occupied by player and NPC driven vehicles

No samurai left behind— thanks to the hype and generosity shown by this community I was inspired to secretly get some coworkers on board with surprising another coworker who couldn’t afford the game.

Title. I'd been getting hyped up about the game with the dude for more than a month whenever we had a shift together, but my heart BROKE when he told me a couple weeks ago he wouldn't be able to afford it at launch.

Experiencing cultural moments like this in gaming is a gift, and being able to help make it happen for someone who would have missed out on the shared experience is a treasure. Seeing the joy in his eyes when he realized what was happening made the holiday for everyone who participated.

Thank you choombas for setting such a great example as a community— participating in launch together can be such a huge thing!!!

Our site has a post up with some great screenshots. This is how the game looks at its peak image quality on PC with all bells and whistles

P.S. Please, don't consider it as a promoting, our site is in Russian, so it doesn't make sense for me to attract English speaking people :D

Will we be allowed to pre install the day 1 patch before launch?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 03:00 PM PST

Like title says will there be a option? From what I'm reading that another 50+ GB update and I'd like that to he installed before so I don't have to wait another 8 or 10 hours after launch to play that game.

Yes unfortunately not everyone is graced with good WiFi.
