r/Cyberpunkgame Book Club Week 14: RoboCop discussion + reveal of this week’s book + vote on next week’s!

    Hey Choombas,

Last week the book club topic was RoboCop! (original + remake) RoboCop is a 1987 movie, remade in 2014. It's about a cop who is turned into a robot! We hope you all had a chance to watch it over the past week. Please discuss what you thought of it below! -- How do you think the remake compares to the original? In what ways has it influenced/been influenced by other Cyberpunk media? Do you plan on role-playing any parts of it while playing Cyberpunk 2077?

As well, last week we posted a poll to vote for this week's book club, and the winner is: The Matrix! The Matrix is a movie released in 1999, featuring our very own Johnny Silverhand, Keanu Reeves. Please vote on next week's topic! (Options: Mona Lisa Overdrive, Elysium, Hardwired)

If you want to see something else in the vote for an upcoming week, please tell us in the comments!

The elevator doors at the beginning of the gameplay reveal video include a subtle reference to the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 will release after we all pass on from old age.

CDPR could have handled this 100x better

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 04:00 PM PDT

I respect CDPR's decision to delay the game, if that's what they feel needs to be done, they do it. But how they handled this delay and the last delay and nothing short of terrible. After the first delay of 6mo, they should have stopped all the cutesy shit, no more cryptic twitter messages, no more grandstanding on how great this game is gonna be while proving no actually proof, no more senseless hype building with dumb merch drops and twitter posts.

They needed to be way more transparent, they shouldn't be reassuring the community the game is on track only to delay a second time. they needed to put their money were their mouth is and let new gameplay build hype, not let the community speculate for months shooting the hype up to the stratosphere, even while combing through ESBR ratings to get any new information. They lost a lot of trust on the first delay, didn't change their strategy and now its biting them in the ass. They need to put up or shut up at this point.

Dont see why a delay is getting hated on...

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 10:51 PM PDT

Legit a delay is better than no delay it means they actually care about releasing the best final product which will inevitably still have bugs but still not as much as they are aiming to fix

It also gets released after i finish my exams so PogChamp 😎

Edit: shieeeeet u guys are right I guess but idk just happy it comes out a week before my final exams (hopefully) will probably get delayed again :(

I also understand now that its their incompetence of an actual date the game will be released on thats getting people mad my bad (I would be too honestly im still waiting for half life 3) 😔

Should I stay away from this sub around release time?

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 05:23 PM PDT

I've noticed when looking at the TLOU2 sub, it's like a day after release and there is already massive spoilers going around in the form of memes and criticisms, and people were posting the leaked ending (which turned out to be true), 5 days before the game was even released.. It doesn't bother me coz I don't have TLOU2 and don't plan on playing it, but I'm just wondering if a similar thing is going to happen here, and if it would be best to just steer clear of this sub in the week leading up to release and while I'm playing it? I mean that sub was really toxic in general and it's not like that here so it probably won't happen. But would it se safest just to avoid it here?

Edit: Thanks to everyone who replied. Seems I've gotten a pretty clear consistent answer and I'll be staying away from the sub around release.
