The World of Cyberpunk 2077 book

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 03:43 PM PST

I was curious if theres been a official update to the release date of the book. Originally it was coming out just after the release in April. With the delay is it safe to assume to book will also be delayed to not give away spoilers??? Has anyone seen any sort of official mention about the books release date? Thank you Samurai

Somebody put up for sale a figurine from the first teaser.

All money from this auction will go to "The great orchestra of christmas charity". The biggest polish charity organisation which every year beats its own records about the collected amount of money.

I am posting it because you may find it interesting and somebody from here may give more money for it so giving it to the charity.

This website doesn't have english version. You will need to use google translate.

    Translated description:

    Balancing gameplay

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 01:41 PM PST

This has been on my mind a while, today I was bored enough to make a post about it.
One thing I noticed about The Witcher IIIs gameplay was, what hurt it the most, were the balance issues.
As an example, the "Quen" sign with which you could just chain-cast and tank through situations you shouldn't have been able to otherwise.
Add that up with how easy it was to create distance with the combat roll, it was an instant way to "cheese" right from the start.
Quen up, tank in, roll away (which took no stamina, though it would have made a huge difference).
And dodging. You were invincible for way too long when dodging, I think there was a perk to even negate taken damage during a dodge, last thing that mechanic needed.
Since Cyberpunk also has dodging... iFrames, not iMinutes, please.

Or the "Whirl" ability that allowed you to hold down a button to win a good 60% of the fights.
In Ursine gear, you literally became a whirlwind of death as the ability could use Adrenaline Points after stamina was gone, simply dismantling anything that wasn't able to chain-block (like witch hunters, certain soldiers or some vampires or Olgierd Von Everec, etc).

While a consistent issue in the main game, I noticed that in the two expansion packs, it was addressed.
In Hearts of Stone, the general enemies like Knights of the Flaming Rose could deal with whirl as the swordsmen could chain block and counter, the shield-bearers could break the move or also chain-block it and the maul-wielders could break the move again by blocking.
Quen-tanking opponents also became less and less useful as Arachnomorphs were extremely fast moving around, you either had to use Aard or Yrden to trap them and they'd never stay around long enough to whirl them to death.

Olgierd would smash through your quen and still do damage if you didn't dodge or counter, the Frog in the sewers would obliterate your quen with his tongue-lash smashing through it like Olgierd's charged attack and it'd leave poisonous clouds that would also shatter your quen and grind at your health immediately.
Other bosses like the Caretaker or Iris' Wraith would basically negate your quen-spamming with being able to quickly regenerate health, therefore the Quen - 3 Light Attack - Roll strategy would leave you with an almost endless fight as you couldn't be aggressive enough disengaging all the time, even if using Tawny Owl to quickly regenerate stamina.

With Blood and Wine, they kept at the balancing, while the new mutations could potentially make you a walking slaughterhouse, they still used and created numerous different enemies that were noticeably designed to punish a quen hero (such as Schloropendramorphs, Shaelmaars or Kikimores, etc).

So while the issue was never fully resolved in Witcher III, as some of the other perks, not quen-related, still gave the player abilities they, from a balance standpoint, weren't supposed to have, I think it was noticeable that the devs did more balancing as they added content over time, making the combat more challenging.

While I still had a lot of fun with Witcher III's combat regardless and I think it still does combat better than any similar game with a comparable focus on narrative and world-building, I wonder if this is something the developers have in mind for Cyberpunk.
I don't remember a single game with branching playstyles that had them all perfectly balanced and equal to each other (not even Dark Souls), but it would be great to know if they are making sure Cyberpunk doesn't end up with an alternate quen or other abilities/cyberware that let you cheese 60% of your enemies without a lot of effort.

Also, on the note of "preparation for combat". Okay, it was almost trivial in Witcher III, if you were really bad, you might have made use of certain decoctions or sword oils (damage buffs), but for me at least, they were barely needed, usually not at all, unless I went up against something 10 levels higher than Geralt was.

I wonder if it's going to be different in Cyberpunk. The only segment of "preparation" was in the 2018 demo, where V inspects the militech agent and her car with her Kiroshi optical scanner, but we don't know if it was for the sake of the demo and it's something completely trivial or if it actually meant something.
I guess knowing Merediths SUV had "composite armor" could work to sway you from trying to approach her aggressively, but I'm not sure if you could, for example, acquire weapons or tools that let you brick her car, which then would open up a somewhat different way of dealing with her.

I definitely expect them to watch out for these kinds of mistakes. I'm not expecting Doom Eternal 2077, but noticeable improvements regardless.

    So, thoughts?

Will you be able to drive flying cars in game?

Despite my disappointment, I would rather see CDPR announce a delay rather than silently try to crunch the game out in 4 months.

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 11:49 AM PST

Exactly what the title says. I was very disappointed when I heard the game was being pushed back to September, but given that the alternative is a few months of crunch work at CDPR and a likely buggy release that most likely results in a massive Day 1 Patch (cause everyone LOVES those) I would rather see the delay. Thoughts?

Don't fool yourself, cyberpunk 2077 will very probably be delayed again until march 2021

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 08:05 PM PST

Considering their track record and how shady they have been the last 17 months with showing us anything.... also considering how big and ambitious the game is and how little experience they have in making a game like this( first person, driving cars, motorcycles and all kind of vehicles, hacking, shooting, huge cities etc..

Possible Reason that Cyberpunk 2077 Got Delayed?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 01:22 PM PST

Now take this with a grain of salt. But this seems to be a more logical reason Cyberpunk 2077 got delayed. No distributor No Game.

Cyberpunk 2077 in danger of losing its distributor in Poland

CDP - Cyberpunk 2077's Polish distributor has recently laid off a part of their staff. If the trend continues, the upcoming sci-fi game by CD Projekt Red will have to look for another publisher in its homeland. CDP has been independently operating since 2014.

CD Projekt Red's recently delayed game is in danger of losing its Polish publisher - CDP - as the company recently suffered a major wave of layoffs.

According to GamePressure and their sources, the company that was supposed to distribute Cyberpunk 2077 just fired "a lot of staff". It is currently unknown which company would take over their rights of distribution for the county of Poland if CDP were to dissolve.

Almost one year ago, Techland Publishing has stepped down as the main distributor of physical copies of Cyberpunk 2077 in Poland and it looks like yet another company is gearing up to take the same route.

GamePressure reached out to several sources and found that, for now, only part of the staff has been laid off. The process, however, may continue and it's unclear how long before CDP resorts to firing everyone.

If Cyberpunk 2077 loses its Polish distributor, there are two companies to step into CDP's role - Cenega and the Polish branch of Koch Media. Cenega has acted as Dying Light 2 publisher in Cyberpunk 2077's home country after the closure of Techland Publishing.

CDP still hasn't officially commented on the matter and CD Projekt Red's upcoming game can still be pre-purchased. Editors over at the PolskiGamedev.pl managed to reach the representatives of the company and got the statement:

"The company is assessing its strategic options. It will be making a public statement in the near future. Meanwhile, it doesn't comment on the reports."

CDP has been independently operating since 2014 and has no ties with the CD Projekt group nor the CD Projekt RED studio - other than the publishing partnership.

A new source has recently claimed that Cyberpunk 2077's recent delay was caused by the current-gen consoles.
