Unpopular opinion: I want CDPR to finish the game

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 04:36 PM PDT

I was hyped for the game back in 2013, the setting was so hooking. I came from table-top RPGs, so that really seemed like a proper Baldur's Gate in Cyberpunk world and without my personal drawbacks of that Forgotten Realms interpretation (like isometric view).
I left the hype train... Until 2 months before launch, bought pre-order week before shipping, spend first 40h of main plot really well (stop complaining team) and left the game for a half of year.
Now I got back to finish the rest of side quests and got to compare what I have with what was promised, the only conclusion I came to is...

That I really want CDPR to release like `Cyberpunk 2078` / `Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.0` with everything / most of what they promised.

Whatever the bugs (they are obligatory to fix) but with that more my-character RPG style, not playing as somebody actually as specific as V, more detailed world, finished city and even more soul.

What do you think? Would you buy that? (pre-order? XD)
or you're fed up with promises and dreams of what wasn't delivered?

Honestly can't tell if I lovr or dislike this game. I've never had this feeling before.

    Posted: 26 Jun 2021 09:38 AM PDT

I bought the game on sale yesterday and I can't stop playing despite my mixed feelings. The atmosphere, voice-acting, environments etc. are honestly bar-setting stuff and I quite honestly could just get lost in it.

But then I'll enter a cutscene where a character's purse is embedded in their hand, or a traffic sign will randomly fly through the background during a conversation, slaughtering innocent bystanders. The minute-to-minute combat feels clunky and unsatisfying but the freedom and possibility it presents is intoxicating.

The dialogue is excellent until characters start spouting technobabble and slang like "I'm going to upload some psycho-kinetic wetsoft to your BRT then elctropoke my way through the magmawire."

The story is compelling but badly-paced, dropping players into the world unceremoniously with a "6 months later" and suddenly people are throwing an overwhelming amount of information at you as if you're already a veteran of this world.

This game has so much incredible art and innovation and craftsmanship but it also buries so much of it beneath jankiness and frustrations. I kind of adore it but also find it exhausting and almost hostile to me as a player.

Anyway, just had to express that. I know none of these opinions are new, but I've honestly never had this reaction to a game before.

How good, or bad has your experience been?

To me the game often has missing textures on menus, there are weird (not the decorative effects) graphical glitches, constant pop-ins, awful frame drops and a general bad time...
