Playing other video games makes me realize even more how poorly crafted Cyberpunk is as an open world game

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 09:58 AM PDT

Recently started playing some games like Yakuza 0 and Final Fantasy 15 and holy cow it's made me realize how poorly crafted Cyberpunk is as an open world game. By that I don't mean the actual environment of Night City (which is very well made) but rather everything in the game outside of the campaign and missions feels very, very lackluster.

The lack of side activities, world interactivity, even how the NPC's and cars react to you is just very poor and not up to the standards of triple A games at all nowadays. Immersion is a key issue too. In the games I mentioned, interacting with vendors feels natural, you can interact with many things and there are many side activities that you are able to do and in general it's not hard to imagine yourself actually being in the word.

That's my main pet peeve about Cyberpunk. Things just feel like a facade with how NPC's are 2 dimensional as hell, how there are so many signs yet you cannot enter the stores with those signs displayed, how vendors in Cyberpunk just take you to a basic "inventory" screen, all of these things while small individually add up in this supposedly "immersive open world".

Idk how to feel about it, I never expected Cyberpunk to be the next Second Life but I did expect it to atleast have the basics...

Despite having different backgrounds as an option, V always sounded like a street kid

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 11:40 AM PDT

Anyone felt the voice lend towards street kid more than anything, especially not Corpo. I understand that recording all the lines for more voice actors is something not feasible, however it just rubs me the wrong way when my corpo V sounds like a street thug all the time.

Regardless of the game's overall quality, the soundtrack is ace.

Tracks such as " You Shall Never Have To Forgive Me Again" and "Been Good to Know Ya" are amazing.

I REALLY want a good, robust companion/buddy system in CP2077, but the more I think about it I realize I really just want Jackie back. :(

It's sad and disappointing that the game has a taxi corporation and taxis, but we still can't travel around the city with them and enjoy the views as a passenger ...

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 11:14 AM PDT

This game was never intended to have roleplaying

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 01:42 AM PDT

The entirety of the main story is built around Johnny and V being opposites. V is an unknown streetkid with a heart of gold, Johnny is a sociopath asshole but also legend of NC. All of their interactions are built upon that exact premise. So if there was roleplaying, for example V being a cold corpo agent or a psycho nomad who hates NC, the story/dialogue wouldn't work. There is no option to agree with Johnny, to show support for him being an asshole or a terrorist. Lifepaths were implemented just to make people think there was actual roleplaying.

Having a setting like Nigh City opens up so many interesting possibilities for character building. This is possibly the biggest wasted opportunity.

Man they’re really stretching out this “second half of March" release date

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 12:52 PM PDT

They also specified that they'll be sharing the patch notes prior to the release. I mean, are they still stuck in testing or something? It wouldn't surprise me since this game has been nothing but test run after test run.

    So Evelyn... the Voodoo Boys...

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 03:15 PM PDT

I'm on my third playthrough now and met Evelyn for the first time again. Of course I'm emotional cuz of what's comin to her.

But like, it's weird that your first introduction to the Voodoo Boys involves them being an accomplice to her torture, trauma, and then death, isn't it? And then for the next mission you help the Voodoo Boys and nearly die doing so just so they could have access to Alt Cunningham.

Me realizing these connections in my second playthrough, it just doesn't sit right with me that there's no way to save her. Like sure the game's main themes involve loss and helplessness but like, there's people that I would have preferred to have the option to save.

I wouldn't care how complex the steps would have to be to save Evelyn if it meant I could ACTUALLY save her cuz she honestly did not deserve any of the shit she went through to that extent.

I'm not the only one who thinks this right? I would love anyone's thoughts on the matter cuz it does make me uncomfortable that's our interaction with a haitian inspired gang.

Some Stadia captures to show that cyberpunk did some stuff right

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 04:12 PM PDT

An ending I would have liked to see.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 05:35 PM PDT

Basically V and Johnny say "you know what fuck ut lets go out like kings of night city".

And they go nuke arasaka tower yet again. Now this ending would have 2 variations.

    1. V and Johnny set the nuke and escape to watch from a safe distance. Which then fades to a year later, where the relic has completely merged V and Johnny, Allowing both to live yet be gone at the same time, cue credits.

    2. V and Johnny don't make it out but set off the nuke. The scene fades to mama Welles seeing the explosion and just knowing that her other son has passed and then we cut to 1 year later. Some new fresh mercy make it to the afterlife and order the V special. And then credits roll.

I think I found some old entrances to NCART stations. I'm guessing we would have been able to walk through these when the trains were rideable. Found in the Arasaka plaza NCART system.

All right, i didn't have many crashes, but i did experience save file corruption. I have heard it has since been fixed, but nonetheless, the fact it was there in the first place is atrocious.

Your Theories About Existing Beyond the Black

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 08:28 PM PDT

    SPOILER ALERT

With most of the endings allowing either V or Johnny to cross beyond the Blackwall and "become part of something different" as Alt Cunningham words it, what do you think that is?

Would V or Johnny manage to maintain any form of consciousness beyond the wall? What's the perk of moving forward compared to say natural death? Would they still know they exist?

Also, since both Johnny and V sorta argue on who should go to where, and Johnny even argues against V going beyond even though he knows V will die in their own body after 6 months, so what makes the Blackwall so bad for V that death is betters in Johnny's eyes?

And why don't they both agree to go into the Blackwall together and let the body die, or maybe let either consciousness "loose" in the network, instead of trapped inside a physical medium at Arasaka until a body is made? (And is that even legit?)

So many questions, so what are your thoughts and theories about the Blackwall ending in CP2077?

    DLC Potentials

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 07:12 PM PDT

    • A Sherlock Holmes style DLC where you are hired by one of the fixer to solve a chain of mysterious crimes, with you is a companion who is a former doctor but license was taken away by giving out free medicines of the hospital to homeless people in Pacifica. You investigates the crime scenes and deduce the murder by your choice with consequences. The scenes would be designed so that you have the freedom to deduce more than 3 different conclusions to the crime.
    • A Free Escape Room DLC where the player is stuck in certain buildings across Night City where you have to use certain tools and hints to get out. The timer will be set for online competition.
    • A DLC where one of your family member (depends on ur background) is involved in an illegal trading between new organizations in Night City. This DLC can explore V's past as you choose to modify your history through dialogues and actions. Returning of River as he helps you to search for data on the new gangs. The plot twist is, Mr. Blue Eyes is behind the scene, trying to manipulate everyone for his purpose of engaging with V for unknown reason.
    • Expansion Pack where Judy is in trouble in Seattle and she asks you for help. The map would be wider and larger than Night City, with less Cyberpunk aesthetic and more natural, grounded theme. With the Expansion Pack, CDPR improves the NPC activities, like in The Witcher 3: Blood and Wines, and have a new system of combat, skills and crafting. With CDPR's skills in writing deep, disturbing story, V's will encounter with Judy a lot of the dark side of people. Introduces 3 more Romance options, with Dual Weapons and Self-Drive Options for Vehicle. Also In-Vehicle combat. More animations for both V and NPC for activities like eating/drinking/sleeping/washing face and hands/going to toilet/... Judy's original BDs, along with the Black Market BDs, can be seen and played.
    • Expansion Pack in Night City where Oda appears injured in front of your apartment, and you take him to Viktor. Yukimura comes and explains that the followers of Yorinobu is trying to get rid of Hanako by eliminating her bodyguard. V's is now entwined with the corporal civil war and he/she explores more about the Arasaka history before coming to Night City. Introduces the Subway/Trains/Air Vehicles, with more car customization, apartments for rent and customize, more non-violence activities like sports/arcade/board game, more Johnny-V moments where Johnny takes a look at the reality of corporations, the good-bad-ugly. More Altman and Rogues. Little sections of BDs about Yukimura and Oda's past where Japan can be seen.
    • If CDPR were to do another Expansion Pack, it would be after the Ending where you meet Mr. Blue Eyes in the prologue, depends on your endings, you would meet him as V or Johnny, and he offers you a chance to revive Jackie/Altman by making him a deal. You need to infiltrate the past and he sends you back to different timelines to get him something/someone. With this DLC, CDPR can put a lot of Easter eggs on Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk 2020. Introduces V's and Johnny's childhood and families. The location would be only Night City but through different phases. More clothing, weapons, and vehicles that suit with each timeline. If V and Johnny both dead, Mr Blue Eyes would conjure them back to the living. More of young Johnny before becoming Silverhand, young Panam, Jackie, Viktor, Misty, Judy, River, Kerry, Rogues, Altman, and the members of Samurai.
    • Another Expasion Pack idea, V is invited by a famous martial artist to come to Japan for a martial art tournament in different prefectures of the country. Each tournament, you can have the glimpse of rural and urban Japan in 2077. More melee weapons iconic designs and stats, improved fighting animations and skills. Introduces new combat system where you can use different martial arts, not just plain boxing. One of the locations is Kagawa, Shikoku where Takemura was born and you meet one of his friends in the army as you explore more on the impact of the Corporation Wars on Japan and Takemura personally.
