At this point, i am more excited for the Witcher 3 RTX than i am for the future of Cyberpunk 2077 Posted: 11 Mar 2021 12:59 PM PST I preordered Cyberpunk. As a matter of fact, that was the first video game i had ever preordered. While i enjoyed my initial playthrough, the game couldn't keep me hooked after the ending. I unistalled it and have never looked back, since other games have consumed my interest. I have decided to lay off the game until i am sure that it has been patched and is in a much better state... So far, people here seem to be denying it, so Cyberpunk will be getting dusty in my GOG library for a while yet. Now, my interest has turned towards the Witcher 3 RTX. After 6 years, the Witcher 3 looks a bit dated. The textures are not very detailed except for Geralt himself. After playing RDR2 with its insane details, the Witcher 3 looks a bit old. I am looking forward to seeing how they implement the raytracing (+ maybe DLSS) technology in the game. I am anxious to see how it'll look. My point is it's kind of sad. A game released 3 month ago excites me less than a game from nearly 6 years ago. It would be really sad if CDPR turned out to be one hit wonders. The Witcher 1 and 2 were very good, but not large content-wise. Gwent and Thronebreaker are decent card games but not some sort of masterpieces. It's sad Cyberpunk missed its opportunity to surpass the Witcher 3 [link] [comments]

In defense of Arasaka's presence in NC (lore and spoilers) Posted: 11 Mar 2021 09:21 PM PST I wanted to have a discussion on Arasaka and if destroying it really outweighed the consequences of its existence being maintained. Arasaka was essentially in shambles after the 4th corporate war. When they were cast out of NC, the Free States were in ruin and the city became a dying slum. Then NUSA in collaboration with Militech attempted a military operation to capture NC (and the free states). The mayor Rhyne called Saburo to request assistance right before Militech arrived. He quickly sent a fleet of Arasaka carriers there, scaring NUSA and Militech away. There was no bloodshed and a truce was made between Free States and NUSA to respect self-determination. To thank Saburo, Rhyne allowed him limited privileges to rebuild Arasaka tower and help revive the city's economy and infrastructure. This of course was implemented with extreme class disparity, but it lifted the overall economy out of ruin. They provided most of the local security forces which also protected the city from Militech and NUSA. This established a power balance between the competing corps and helped restore order in the struggling city. And surprisingly, according to lore, the residents of NC actually prefer the Arasaka corporate security over their own government security agencies, that's how terrible the government agencies were. Naturally, Japan is far more reliant on Arasaka than NC. So another consequence of Arasaka being nearly eliminated after the war is that it devastated Japan to the brink of total collapse. It ended up killing a third of the animals there due to the famine. Actually, the lore says that millions of civillian deaths occurred worldwide because of the economic aftermath of the Arasaka bombing. This explains Takemura's obsession with Arasaka's existence- Japan's fate and Arasaka's fate are one and the same. To him all the evil things that Arasaka does (like farming children for corporate soldiers in Chiba-11) are a lesser evil than Arasaka's demise, since that would also mean the demise of Japan. I loved his character even though I'm a card carrying communist because he is the only one in the game who I could connect with for the big picture analysis of these events. Even if you're a communist you have to think of these things if you want to devise net positive acts of praxis. The problem with Johnny is that he is mentally still back in the 4th corporate war. Johnny is basically a useful idiot for Militech. He really is not anticorpo as much as anti-Arasaka. He's a good person deep down, but he's Militech's pawn and he doesn't even realize it himself. It was Militech who arranged the op to destroy Mikoshi and provided the bomb. It destroyed the 4,000 employees of Arasaka, left Night City's economy in ruin and that was what ended the corporate war. According to lore, there's a lot of propaganda put out by Militech and NUSA blaming Arasaka for the bomb to generate support for seizing the city and the free states. Reminds me of two negligent, abusive parents in a custody battle and NC is the child. The people of NC hate the corps because of all the evil they do, but there is always a lesser evil. Between Arasaka and Militech, apparently it is Arasaka that is the lesser evil for NC. Was what Johnny did for the greater good? Intentions were, but Arasaka rebuilt itself. Mikoshi is still there in 2077. Soulkiller itself is not something that is just the evil creation of Arasaka. It was created when Alt was in ITS and all the corps have been fighting over the tech, including Militech and Kang Tao. Destroying Arasaka will not rid the world of Soulkiller. There really is no ridding the world of a technological advancement like this once it has been developed, especially one that has use for the military industrial complex. It will always end up in someone else's hands. And Yorinobu intentionally provokes the corps to go into a hot war if he succeeds at his factional coup anyway. At this point, a war like this could literally mean the end of the world...look at what happened during the 4th corporate war. There is no unique evil in the corporate world, just like the political world. The problem I had with this game is the it pushes you into adopting Johnny's perspective as the "correct" solution -but I never felt that way. Perhaps my experience in politics caused me to go into this game with that mindset and I overthought it. What do you think? [link] [comments]

Suggestion: Changing V’s Look Mid-Game + Additional Customizations Posted: 11 Mar 2021 08:33 PM PST How would you feel about adding a feature that lets you change V's look mid-game? While I know we can restart with a new character, I feel that Night City's tech is significantly advanced enough to allow for some in-lore twist about changing looks. Additionally, one of the things that bother me about the game's customization system is that it seems to focus on details like endowment and pubic hair style and color when you can't even see it in photo mode, mirrors, shower scenes, sex or even any third person cutscenes, yet somehow you do not have the option to change body type much. Wouldn't it be great if they let you increase/decrease weight more significantly and make your character more or less muscles, give them a six pack..etc.? I'm actually surprised that they thought of all the face paints and pubic hair styles when something as basic as body type is completely missing, not to mention how outfit are the same 5 styles recolored.
