Giving V a terminal condition was the biggest mistake of this game

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 10:38 AM PST

CDPR decided to make an open world RPG placed in a huge and supposedly alive futuristic city, and they made the player character a walking time bomb. There is no room to add interesting stuff like creating your own faction, exploring the world and chill etc. cuz the player would die like in few weeks. In TW3 Geralt was looking for Ciri, and in Fallout 4 the sole survivor had to find Shaun but even those games didn't make the player character this desperate.

Why can't the open world games today be like good old Skyrim where you are allowed to do pretty much anything from the start and not bound by certain plot conditions? The basic setting of this game started all wrong and I don't see the way how to save this game.

I'm not sure if DLC or patches can fix this game, not like this

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 06:04 PM PST

Just some thoughts I had after 3 full playthroughs on the 3 life paths and getting all the endings

The bugs will be fixed, the game will get optimized - but in it's current state I just dont think CP2077 has all that much it can do to make it live up to the CDPR's previous fantastic go at The Witcher 3, much less the promised/marketed version of CP2077.

The main story pacing feels completely off imo, the 'side quests' are (with some exceptions) all basically some version of "go here, shoot/steal something, leave" or follow quests, or over in less time than it takes to microwave leftovers.

Character romances are not allocated equally - still feels like Panam was the 'main romance', just going by the amount of time you spend with her VS Judy (not even talking about poor Kerry or River). AND it's just plain weird to me that even if you don't romance her, in one of the endings - your final cutscene is with her, not your actual romantic partner on that damn tank.

The game is pretty (even if it runs like hot garbage on all but the best PC hardware unless you have DLSS on) and I'm sure mods and patches can give the game the cosmetic facelift it desperately needs - but the cut content and underlying lack of player choice don't give me much of a reason to play it again a 4th time.

Even ignoring the missing RPG features of this supposedly game-changing RPG, CP2077 just lacks...It lacks the parent/child soul-tugging stories of TW3 or Last of Us, it lacks the galaxy-wide stakes of the mass effect series, it lacks the mystery of Horizon Zero Dawn's plot, it lacks the gunplay of dozens of other First Person games. Hell, even Anthem had a kickass character customization system and it was fun to fly around it that game pretending to be iron man.

CP2077 isnt a 'bad' game imo, in that I enjoyed it for what it is - a new bright, shiny playground to shoot bad guys in, but it isn't the Cyberpunk we were sold, the Cyberpunk we were told existed. I'm just not sure that version of Cyberpunk will ever exist.
