If life was made up of progress bars, and the time between game announcement and release is 3,095 days. We would be at 98.77%. We are nearly there.

Pro Tips for day one game binge (lifestyle, not gameplay)

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 10:19 AM PDT

So I know most people on this reddit are (if able) going to take a day (or two) off to play this game on release. I'd like to remind you all that you're not as young as you were 8 years ago when this game was announced, and even those of you in your 8+hr video game binging prime will still enjoy the game more if you followed some pro-tips.

1.) "Wake up" don't "stay up"

You took work off Thursday and want to stay up till midnight to play it day one, but that's a bad idea for several reasons

    - By staying up, you only get to play from 12 on, barely enough to get past the prologue

    - "But I'll just push through!" you say. Your body needs sleep, and you're going to be in a shitty-er mood than if you had just gotten some sleep and therefore enjoy the game less. Your entire cycle will be jacked up and you'll end the weekend in a worse mood than you could be.

Better to go to sleep at 6:30PM the night before, (take a sleeping pill, hell rotate your entire schedule if you're that committed) and wake up after a solid 8 hours at 2:30 being refreshed and set for ~20 hrs of gaming. This will also alleviate any issues getting the day one patch that may arise due to unprecedented demand (servers could crash)

    2.) Go out for a run/walk

Blood clots are real, every so often you hear of someone dying in an internet cafe after gaming for 20 hrs strait.

In an ideal world you would go on a brief run/walk every 4 hrs or so, to get the blood flowing and keep your metabolism up, but even just walking around your place could save your life. Outside of blood clots, you'll generally feel better and therefore enjoy the game more.

This will additionally help rest your eyes, as focusing on something further away than the screen will help relax some of those muscles.

3.) Eat and drink, (preferably healthy)

Your body needs food, and more importantly water, I've gotten so engrossed in a game I've forgotten to drink/eat a meal, and you'll pay for it later. Dehydration gives you a headache and a crappy mood, so drink up. Greasy take out feels good at the time, but something healthy will keep your mid-day energy up (sushi is a great delivery option that's not so filling)

    4.) Posture matters

If you're sitting in a shitty position for 18+ hrs in a row (even with the aforementioned breaks) something is going to hurt and therefore subtract from the fun. If you're gaming on console, take your office chair into the living room instead of sitting on the couch, your lumbar will appreciate it.

Sorry if this all sounds preachy, I have to force myself to do these things but I'm always happy I did.

EDIT: Thanks for the awards, also in the comments it was mentioned how in america the game might release at 6PM EST (midnight in Poland) that would change my strategy a bit, but never the less sleep is important!

Not sure if this fits here, but I just finished my build inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 and other works like Akira, GitS, etc... More pics in comments.

I have a feeling this game will be added to the list of games where "I wish I could forget about the whole game play it for the first time"

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:12 PM PDT

The Witcher 3, BOTW and Windwaker are on that list too. What games do you wish you could play for the first time again?

Experience, Progression and Level of V, Street Cred and Morality System (reminder)

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 09:10 AM PDT

    Experience

There are two forms of experience (XP):

-Base XP (core XP): earned by completing the main quest. - Street Cred: which can be earned through side quests. [25a]

Progression: V level, Attributes, Perks and Skills

Raising the level of V can grant us a Perk Point and an Attribute Point (subsequent levels will sometimes give us multiple points of each). [13]

Each attribute can be upgraded to level 20. [19]

"I can increase my Stealth skill by being stealthy. The more you do it, the better you get at it. So if I sneak up behind a guy and knock him out without being spotted, boom !, I get some Stealth experience [...] The same goes for all the other skills in the game [... ] ". [26]

However, we can only increase our skills at the level of the corresponding attribute. Example: If my Cool attribute is 6, my Stealth skill will never go above 6. To get a higher Stealth, you must first upgrade my Cool attribute. [26]

    Street Cred

This is our reputation in the city, not a morality system, and our Street Cred will only increase. [27]

"The higher your Street Cred, the more vendors and Fixers you will get in Night City." [28]

A high Street Cred will improve the prices and stock of sellers. There are items in various stores that require a certain level of Street Cred. [26]

The Samurai Jacket passively increases the amount of Street Cred the player can accumulate. [28a]

    Morality system

December 6, 2018, Benzenzimmern: "We will not do an arbitrary morality meter for Cyberpunk. We try to manage these things in a more organic way, by tracking your choices and how they affect the people you interact with. A gang member won't care if you tell a Fixer to fuck off, but the Fixer might remember it (or maybe they know each other, so now you have a whole new situation in your hands). We try to keep this as true to life as possible ". [29]
