r/Cyberpunkgame Book Club Week 7: Altered Carbon Season 1 discussion + reveal of this week’s book + vote on next week’s!

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 11:41 AM PDT

    Hey Choombas,

Last week the book club topic was Altered Carbon Season 1, a Netflix original cyberpunk series, which came out last year. We hope you all had a chance to watch it over the past couple of weeks. Please discuss what you thought of it below! -- How do you think it compares to other Cyberpunk TV shows? In what ways was it influenced by other Cyberpunk media? Do you plan on role-playing any parts of it while playing Cyberpunk 2077?

As well, last week we posted a poll to vote for this week's book club, and the winner is: Johnny Mnemonic! Johnny Mnemonic is a live action movie, featuring Cyberpunk 2077's own Johnny Silverhand, Keanu Reaves. It came out in 1995.

Please vote on next week's topic! (Options: Altered Carbon Season 2, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Upgrade)

If you want to see something else in the vote for an upcoming week, please tell us in the comments!

Malstrom premium version framed and hung. Nicest poster I've ever seen.

How crazy can I go with the augmentations?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 04:05 PM PDT

I don't know if this is a frequently asked question, but how over the top will players be able to get with their implants and prosthetics? If the player wanted to be as decked out as a Maelstrom Gang member, is that a gameplay option?

    Your V, Your Story

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 09:53 AM PDT

    Hey all!

I was curious to see if you guys have already planned out your V's and their backstories, personalities and stuff. With the game coming ever closer I'm wondering how many of you just go in and let it go from there or if you patiently plan it all out!

    • Age • Gender • Personality • Backstory • Name (If you have one other than V!)

Don't feel tempted to go into too much detail or whatever, if it's basic then that's okay! I look forward to seeing your guys' stories. 💕💕

Others may think otherwise, but this song feels like it could fit for an ending song or something

Netrunner vs Solo when jacked in

Netrunner vs Solo when jacked in

This post may contain story discussion, so read at your own discretion

    V as netrunner

    V as solo

Ok, first of all, when the netrunner is jacked in, he sees a man instead of Brigitte, which is the woman who guided the Solo class in the Deep Dive gameplay. In the Deep Dive video, Brigitte has some people standing around her, or copies of herself, but on the trailer screenshot, the man is alone looking to what seems a decision tree or some screens showing nothing important.

We thought that the moment when Brigette shows V the blackwall was important (it still is) and that no matter which class was selected, you would have to go through that moment, but if I haven't misunderstood what I see here, the Netrunner class may have some previous knoweldge about the blackwall, so in that moment Brigitte shouldn't show V about it.

One last change seen is that the netrunner sees the digital world white, while the solo sees it blue. This could happen because the netrunner has more experience in the net (digital world) and sees everything more clear or due to other things or random factors.

Will Cyberpunk have "Ingredients" to collect within the open world?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 03:32 PM PDT

Will Cyberpunk have "Ingredients" to collect within the open world?

In The Witcher 3, you could see a leaf icon on the map when there were ingredients you could pick up:

While by themselves these ingredients didn't do much, I would always collect them because they would inevitably be usable in potions.

Will there be a similar mechanic in CP2077? Obviously it won't be plant material, but maybe discarded bits of cyberware or chunks of metal littered throughout the open world that can be picked up by V. These would be indicated by something similar to the leaf icon in TW3, and can be used when crafting materials.

This speculation is based purely on the fact that they did it in TW3, and no other proof, but this could be a very cool mechanic if implemented.

Would you pay $25 to have your face on a random citizen in night city

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 06:45 AM PDT

If CDPR offered to have players faces uploaded into the game and be a NPC in Night City would you do it for like $25?

I'm thinking it would be awesome to try and find yourself and if a lot of players submitted their photos it would create so many different NPC looks.

With my luck I'd end up being a crack head in the game lol

    Extended Gameplay Demo

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 02:55 AM PDT

What happened to do extended gameplay demo that was revealed to journalists and such?

All we got was the deep-dive video (15 min.), but the extended one was about 50 minutes of gameplay iirc. I assumed it was gonna be shown to the public at Gamescom/PAX east last year or atleast later on the year through YT.

I mean so far we have had no new gameplay footage, all we got was merch and lore-tweets, so why not just release that 50 min demo that was shown back then?

    Best place to pre-order?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 03:07 PM PDT

Hello, I need help deciding where and what edition of the game to get. Although I want the collectors edition, it is sold out almost everywhere. Only places that have them are shotty stores online and I don't know if I can trust myself to order from them.

Anyone have any idea if they are going to announce another edition or should I just bite the bullet and pre order from a trusted retailer?

Is this game aiming to be immersive

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:45 AM PDT

I don't want to overhype this game. I'm expecting it to be one of the best open world out there, or THE best open world, however, this game isn't a simulation. I just wanted to know if CD PROJEKT RED has advertised or said something about this game being immersive.

    Thanks again.

    Cyberpunk recap/synopsis?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 11:08 AM PDT

    Hi there!

I love cyberpunk environments and the whole subject!

When I saw the trailers and wikifandom pages, I instantly become in love with it. This kind of reminds me of the series Altered Carbon.

Back to the topic and my main question:

I have understood that it' an sequel to Cyberpunk 2013/2020. Besides reading the wiki page (which is good). Since english is not my native language, I wonder if there are any video's, webpages, literally anything and more explaining the universe and everything before I jump into the game when it's released? I don't like being not aware of the world and it's history and jump into the unknown, also since I love these genres and would really want to know more about this game and world!

Explanations here and links, etc are appreciated very, very much!

    Thanks and stay healthy!
