Posted: 06 Apr 2020 01:31 PM PDT One of the bigger things in a story can be it's main theme, no not the musical theme, but something like a message or something that drives our main character or is the source of conflict. Words that impact the story and in a way summarise it. I have a theory on what this theme may be. One of the things that stuck out with me after first big gameplay reveal are the words of Ripperdoc Vic "Don't forget where you came from". I think those will be the words that will resonate throughout the game and define this journey. As V we will most likely become a very big player in the Night City, we will become someone big, but in time we will have to make decisions based on our past and deal with past events and tragedies. That's probably why we have this choice of our origin and why it will be important part of the game. And I think that's what may in time lead us into conflict with some people, probably mainly with Johnny Silverhand. I feel like Johnny will be the prime example of forgetting your origin, putting aside your past and leaving it all behind and with Johnny being most likely amalgamation of past owners of the Chip we may also see some unwilling forgetting with Johnny. We may have to help him or have a conflict over the past and what it means. I think this may be the message of 2077, message about not running away from your past because in the end it will catch up to you, about accepting it and truly moving forward. At least that's my take on it. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but words of Vic really felt like they may mean much more later on. [link] [comments] | ||
