Just bought this game last week on a Black Friday sale for $10. Best ten bucks I’ve ever spent on a game so far

Playing on Series X and so far have seen only a few minor bugs here and there. For the most part though, I think this game should have been given more credit.

What CDPR did by releasing an unfinished game was scummy, especially when it would not play properly on the older consoles but still, this game is gold.

Really scratching that story driving RPG itch I've had for a while, as well as being a decent shooter at the same time.

This is the first game I've taken the time to actually sit down and play for more than 30 minutes in almost a year and I'm loving every second of it

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to VR

I played RDR2 and GTA 5 after Cyberpunk 2077 and was kinda disappointed

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 09:07 AM PST

Around the release of Cyberpunk, so many people talked about how CDPR's new world didn't compare to the pinnacles of open world game design that were Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5.

Many people mocked CDPR for having stated that Cyberpunk would have the most immersive open world ever seen. While criticism is understandable given CDPR's disastrous marketing of the game, the comparison between these games gave me a skewed perception of what I'd get from Rockstar's latest games.

On release, I had a great time with Cyberpunk, despite its obvious flaws. Though the open world was lacking in mini games and unique activities, I found the atmosphere and detail in Night City to be incredible. What really did it for me though was the main story. The main character interactions were so lifelike. It is the closest I've ever felt to having real conversations with people in a game, and I almost always looked forward to these interactions. In that respect, at least, I found Cyberpunk to be incredibly immersive. Combat itself was far from perfect (much like in the Witcher 3), though there was a satisfying amount of variety to how you could approach many of the game's encounters.

So, all things considered, the fact that so many people compared Cyberpunk unfavorably to RDR2 and GTA 5 on release actually got me incredibly excited to play those games.

After playing both, I was left a little underwhelmed. They're not games that I'd say are eons ahead of Cyberpunk, as I was led to expect. In RDR2, the open world itself is a technical marvel, but I didn't come close to feeling as immersed when it came to main character interactions. Overall, I was also surprised by the linearity in the storytelling as well as in the mission structure, which often reverted to go to location x and shoot x people. It is a great game, and I enjoyed Arthur Morgan's story, but at times it really felt formulaic. I was also surprised to find that, as a player, I was faced with a lack of choices with meaningful consequences in the world.

GTA 5 is even worse, understandably so, as it's the older game. Missions are so restrictive in that game. I've just been playing the cargo ship heist and you literally get an instant mission fail for setting one foot off the boat. Overall these are undeniably good games, but I actually think CDPR achieved more of an immersive, groundbreaking world than people give them credit for. Cyberpunk is a deeply flawed game, yes, but when it's at its best it is incredible. Many people will massively disagree I'm sure, but IMO RDR2 is consistently very impressive, but never quite reached the same heights.

TLDR; I was disappointed by RDR2 and GTA 5 after seeing people compare Cyberpunk unfavorably to those games.

Cyberpunk a year after release, worth starting or not

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 10:47 AM PST

I bought it at release and after all the issues i saw it having and due to time constraints, i thought it would be best to wait until things get worked out. A year later now almost, and I'm wondering if the game have come a long way to improving it's bugs/issues, is it worth starting now to enjoy this game?

Also im on PC, using a RTX 3090 FE / 9900 KS / 32 gigs DDR4 on an 48inch OLED 4k resolution, how well will this game run?

(Opinion) Romance Preferences Are A Wasted Opportunity

    Posted: 05 Dec 2021 07:11 AM PST

I can't help but feel like the fact that there's only 4 characters to romance (not including JoyToys) ruins the fun idea of romantic partner preferences. Romance really does add a lot to a world and makes an rpg feel more lifelike, and that could make the preferences a lovely mechanic, because people in real life do have these preferences. However, the romanceable options are terrible. There's literally 1 gay guy, 1 straight guy, 1 gay chick and a straight chick… and if you have a female body with a male voice, you can only get with the gay guy. It makes 0 sense and is just a blockade for you to not be able to romance your favorites. What if you're a girl that wants to do Pam? Or a guy that wants to get with Judy? I mean these characters don't even care about genitals at all which is something that I feel like is important for realism. These preference blocks wouldn't feel like such a punch if there were a lot more options for romancing, but there just isn't. You usually have like 1 or maybe 2 options for choices and if you don't like either of them you're just fucked, except you aren't! 😆 With only these 4 options, I feel like they should just remove preferences. If there were 10-15 romance options, I'd definitely love the idea of different gender, voice and genital preferences between romances to make the people feel more realistic but when there's only 4 I kinda just want to pick my favorite and go for it.

For those people who wants to expand the story of Jackie, T-Bug, and Dexter Deshawn, I have Bad news for you.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2021 07:34 PM PST

These two Devs explain that nothing is cut from that 6 Months Montage, they speed up the story for you to meet Johnny as soon as possible to create tension quickly.

    https://reddit.com/link/r96iy9/video/up49urua5n381/player

Igor Sarzynski : "From my perspective if we spent those six months here with Jackie, from the screenplay structure point of view, it would be stretching it for super long and then here the actual action starts. And it starts at the end of the heist when you get the chip with Johnny Silverhand in your head. Expanding the game on this part…just like doing gigs with Jackie around the city, sure it's cool, but it's just open world formula with a particular goal for the character or conflict, and just like this guy trying to earn some money, but there's no real tension to it. Once you start dying and the cyberterrorist from the past is in your head, that's where the tension arises."

I'm sorry but I thought this game is an RPG, Slow pace RPG like a true Cyberpunk, not GTA V Action-adventure.

But credits to this Devs explaining to us on why and how. But for me, I really don't like their perspective of what really an RPG is. Call me old school or something but I prefer a slow pace RPG to create more tension before the climax happens. Jackie's death is not that really impactful because I really meet this character 20 mins before his death.
