“Standing at the feet of giants”. Took this a few months ago, finally getting around to finishing the game and exploring night city. Despite all of the issues, this game can be beautiful.

I, like many, were waiting for this game and no, I did not expect that it would be a clone of GTA V. I was expecting something unusual. In principle, I got it. An interesting story, cool and brutal characters, intrigue and investigation, and yes, I like it, but the game is completely lacking in motivation to explore the world. Yes, there are skyscrapers and other buildings in the game, but you don't want to enter them. Driving through the city, I do not want to stop the car and go up these stairs or go into this alley. Playing this game gives the impression that I am like a cat in a box, the main thing is to sit down more comfortably.

So replaying the story, and man, what a fucking mess the entire Evelynn Parker situation is. Now I have been dragging the game out since I don't want it to be over, I frequently do this with Bethesda games.

So let's talk about Woodman... What a sleeze bag. Apparently after Evelynn's doll chip got fried by the Voodoo Boys, he kept her as his personal, brain dead sex doll for a period of time before pawning her off to fingers. He lies, saying that he "paid" fingers to take Evelynn... Omitting the fact that his "payment" was literally Evelynn's lifeless body.

So Fingers tries to bring her back, but he's an amateur and is in way over his head trying to fix Evelynn after her Doll Chip was infected with homebrewed Voodoo Boys malware, likely written just for her, and installed remotely while her ports were open and she was with a client.

Unable to fix her, feed her (god knows how long shed gone without food or water) or just leave her on the street, and with no contacts, he calls... WAKAKO. This absolutely floored me. I normally go in all guns blazing, so of course I just beat the shit out of fingers and put a bullet in his head after Judy left the room, but I'm starting to think that Fingers was the only decent person in this entire situation.

Listen to how the dolls on Jig Jig Street talk about him. He does free work, presumably in hopes of sexual favors... But he isn't a rapist, and these are women who are in the sex industry in the first place.

He keeps archaic cyberware running, while no other ripper in the city could even find the parts. I'm betting a good portion of the lower class Joy Toys in the city would be facing mortal consequences without his services, which again, he provides for no cost up front, accepting payments, in HOPES of getting laid, but his records make it seem like sex isn't transactional with him, and he doesn't force himself on these girls.

Hell the Japanese Joytoy in his waiting room even said that she would be in a wheelchair without his help.

Finally, he is the only point of contact who had possession of Evelynn Parker after she was remote hacked, that didn't take advantage of her for sex; the abuse she suffered at the hands of Woodman and the Scavs lead her to commit suicide after she was finally rescued.

And don't forget, Fingers didn't just call these Scavs up himself. WAKAKO is the one who set that up, and honestly, for a person like Fingers, in a place like Night City, he did the best that be could.

If anyone should be blamed for Evelynn's suicide, I would say it should be Judy, for allowing her to go back to Clouds and then not keeping an eye on her after insisting that she stay with her, or more likely, Wakakko, for sending the Deaths Head outfit to go pick up Evelynn from Fingers, when she likely had the resources to have her repaired.

But, in the grand scheme of things, Evelynn is the reason that Jackie, V, Bug, and Dex died, and the reason why Johnny was trapped in V's body instead of having his own, as was the plan detailed on Yorinobu's terminal, and as was also apparently the plan of the Voodoo Boys (no spoilers I'm not that far yet).

Hell, she even KNEW that Yorinobu intended to rescue Johnny Silverhand, in order to strike a blow against Arasaka and "restore the balance of things"; and when prompted at your first meeting at The Mox, she says it's "unimportant", before offering to cut out Dex, Bug, and Jackie after The Heist. She sent all three of them to their deaths, with bad information, and never planned on paying them in the first place. Truly greedy and evil.

I find it rather fitting that the Tarot Card "Justice" can be found at the XBD Studio where the worst of Evelynn's trauma was sustained.

TL;DR: Fingers isn't a actually a terrible person, and this is likely the reason that CDPR only allows you to buy the Epic Legs Cyberware from him late game if you decided not to beat the shit out of him; as a reward for truly exploring the story and the morals of each player within.
