    If a player wanted, can they ignore the main quest indefinitely or to a reasonable, lengthy degree and play sandbox with meaningful character and level progression?

    Patrick Mills: Absolutely. One of my favorite ways to play the game is to set my destination to a quest on the other side of the city and slowly make my way there on foot, taking in the sights and completing side activities on the way

    A list of games that are perfect to play in the cyberpunk genre while waiting for 2077 release!

    I figured I might share this with you all if some of you really need an itch to scratch in the meantime while we wait a bit longer! So here's a list of games that are excellent alternatives in the cyberpunk genre. These are ones that I have played, if you don't see a game you like on here then please talk about it in the comments. I would love to hear more!

    The ones at the top are the ones that I think personally may be the closest, best fits? Whether that's in terms of just the world, aesthetic, gameplay, etc... But here we go! Hope this helps some of you!

    1. Syndicate (2012) - PS3, 360, PC. FPS, you play as a corporate agent with an experimental prototype chip in your brain. Hack your enemies mid combat, kill them creatively (the game is VERY GOREY and has dismemberment), guns have multiple firing modes and unique weapons (including an awesome gun like Cyberpunk smart weapons. Literally the same thing really). Find the dark secrets of the corporate world as you hunt down a traitor in the organization and unlock the secrets of your past.
    2. Ghostrunner (2020) - PS4, XBONE, Switch, PC, will also have a free next gen upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X. FPS, Just beat it last night, best way to put it bluntly is its a super fast paced, very intense and you will need fast reflexes to survive in this dark city where you are a cyberpunk ninja (basically a Cyberpunk Genji TBH) trying to save the city after a hostile takeover by a scientist. Prepare to die in this game. A lot. It is super satisfying once you get your runs just right though.
    3. Ruiner (2017) - PS4, XBONE, PC, Switch. Top down shooter. I can't comment on this one quite as much yet but its a very interesting game in a dark world where you are an silent masked character, hellbent on saving your brother at any cost in a city under corporate rule. Intense shooting and melee combat.
    4. Deus Ex Human Revolution/Mankind Divided (2011/2016) - PS3, 360, PC / PS4, XBONE, PC. FPS. Played these years ago and loved these. Most people probably know these games but for those of you who don't to put it bluntly, you follow the story of Adam Jensen, an ex-officer who was augmented in order to save his life. Caught up in a conspiracy that could send the world into hell, you follow his story as you get lots of augments, upgrade yourself for either more equipped for firefights or stealth gameplay. This is an RPG where every choice you make will have consequences through your story. Excellent cyberpunk themed game.
    5. Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon (2013) - PS3, 360, PC. FPS. This one is more over the top than anything but if you want a wild, 80's throwback neon dream full of cheesy one liners and to play a badass that'd remind you of Arnold or Stallone, then this is perfect for you. It's crazy, it's over the top and it is an absolute blast simply put. It's open world, expect laser guns, cyborgs, dragons and a badass soundtrack.

    Other Cyberpunk themed games that I've heard are really good: Cloudpunk, Va-11 Hall-A, System Shock 2, Shadowrun, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex - First Assault Online, Remember Me, and Detroit Become Human

    I feel like no one is talking about it anymore. I followed a few youtubers who were pumping out the videos everyday and now most of them went radio silence. The official twitter account stopped posting tweets and people here don't even post much anymore except for memes. I know a delay happens recently but I hate to see the hype has really died.
