Everyone's first experience with the lifepaths will be a very interesting thing to discuss

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 06:42 PM PDT

Looking at the differences between everyones experience based on which lifepath we choose will be interesting. I think it's going to be neat to see people have completely different views/experiences on stuff depending on their start. People who share a start will have things to talk about that only they can due to their start. Like we all only get one first playthrough, so I wonder how it will be to see how the lifepath impacted everyones first playthrough.

I'm planning on going Nomad, just as to me it makes sense to pick the start where your character is a stranger to the city aswell as yourself, but that's just the thing. Someone who picked streetkid or corpo will feel completely different about the game. I can't understate how much those first few hours determine your playthrough. For example, nomad players might choose to explore the badlands a bit first before we actually enter the city, so to us it's going to be such an experience to go from the badlands to the first time we explore Night City. We'll have a sense of contrast that corpo and streetkid wont have. However corpo will start in of course a corporate setting. So later in the game if they run into that same setting it will be familiar to them in a way it wont be to nomads and streetkids. Also corpos and streetkids will have the experience of seeing the badlands for the first time, and they will have a reverse sense of contrast to that of nomads. Streetkids will experience corporate locations and the badlands for the first time later and will become more familiar with the city before nomads or corpos.

I feel like this aspect of the lifepaths isn't really considered much. We all think more of the actual lifepath itself, but not our experience with the other content. By the time nomads and corpos get into the city proper streetkids will already have the lowdown. Nomads will be familiar with the badlands before corpos or streetkids get to see it, and it might be hours before they see the badlands. Corpos will be predisposed to not trust people and already be on-edge when they start.

Nomads will feel the sense of isolation with regards to buildings and stuff, and then be thrown into the populated chaos that is Night City. Streetkids and corpos will be used to the city, and then experience the isolation of the badlands. These are subtle things, but they will greatly impact our playthrough. Again, corpos will already be more on-edge and distrusting. They will interact with characters and the gameworld in a different way. Nomads might end up being too trusting. Streetkids are going to get used to how the city works, but then dealing with nomads and corpos will feel very odd to them. All of this will completely change our perspectives on events and how we play the game, even to the end of the game. You can only experience everything for the first time once. Just the beginning with the lifepaths already shapes our entire attitude and playthrough. Even though we will change as we play, that first impact already dictates how we will do things later on. Try to think of your first experiences with a game you really like, now imagine if for that game you had 3 very different choices as to how those first experiences would go. When you play the other lifepaths later on, you'll be thinking of them from the standpoint of your previous playthrough.

I know this is all standard stuff, but in a way it's so different than other games. Nomad players, streetkid players, and corpo players will each have their own group of people who played that for the first time. Their perspectives will be unique to their first playthrough and first lifepath. Imagine driving on a desert highway heading to Las Vegas, you see the light in the distance and gradually come upon the city. That's Nomads. Now imagine it from the reverse, you're in the city, you leave and slowly civilization slinks away leaving you alone that's streetkids. Corpos will literally have a different view, a view from above. You aren't in the city, you're above it, you're better than it, and then you're forced down to their level. These are simple things, but they dictate your playthrough mentally.

edit: thing I forgot to mention. As a corpo you're already a mover and shaker, you're important, so when you climb your way up you're just working your way back to where you think you should be. As streetkid and nomad you are just working your way up. Corpos are already important people in a way that the other characters aren't. Streetkid players will have a much more intimate relationship with the city before nomads or corpos. What we learn, they will already know.

Seen a lot of people asking how many weapons we can carry/use at a time and noticed that there are multiple times in the old 48 minute gameplay this ui appears showing V switching between 4 thought I’d share since I didn’t see anyone mention this to the people asking :)

If you count the windows each blocks consists 15-17 floors, a mega building has total 3 blocks which makes it a 45-50 storey tall buidling! (approx 200m tall). Wonder how much of it is explorable?

Underrated fact about changing life paths

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 07:06 AM PDT

I read many comments and posts about people choosing their life paths and i think there is one fact from a Polish Pawel Interview that not many people are aware of:

"It's the same for other life paths - they all have their own custom epilogues. What's important is, that you can change your path. As a street kid or Corpo you can start working with Nomads, play through the game this way and end your game as a Nomad. But if you start a game and end a game as a Nomad you will receive additional paths and parts of the story. It shows that there are many layers to that."

So if users say "I wanna play Nomad", because I like the family bonds and integrity", well you can still do this as with a different background.

I think this opens a lot of great additional playthrough options such as a Corpo who is fed up with Corpo life style and starts bonding with Nomads. Or a street kid that wants to escape gang life and "make it", and decides to side with Militech.

New content or the ultimate comparison, what does Reddit want?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 09:54 PM PDT

Back in good 'ol 2018 we got the 48 minute gameplay which blew us all away. We all thought it looked fantastic and thought "yeppers, this'un is as good as done!" Then came the delays and we all stood confused and heartbroken.

Two years on we all understand the reasons. The game looks even better! So I pose you this question. Do you want new content, as in the recent Night City Wire videos. Or do you want the ULTIMATE GAMEPLAY COMPARISON? The whole 48 minutes again in the latest build in order to compare the two versions.

New content is great, I love it! But being able to see the progress they made would be really cool as well!
